It is sort of interesting that every late night host can't just wing it without writers. For the most part, isn't that what Colbert and Kimmel have been doing all along? Stand there and blurt out bar talk.
So Gutfeld can still do it, while the others lack the gray matter.

Hollywood TV & movie strike
Re: Hollywood TV & movie strike
I don't mean to brag, but I just put a puzzle together in 1 day and the box said 2-4 years.
Re: Hollywood TV & movie strike
Could be but in this case without the writes the show does not go on.

Ask not what your country can do FOR you; ask what they are about to do TO YOU!!

They can stop holding that gun to your head and making you watch while they are at it…audiophile wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 6:23 amHollywood Smollywood. These writers mostly stink anymore, so strike all you want, it's you it's your right to not to work and spare us from this rubbage.

The last nighttime host on the big three worth watching was Leno.

Agreed
When we were in Florida this year, Leno was on every night at midnight, running some kind of game show

Too bad he isn’t the least bit funny. Carlin was funny. Gutfeld is as funny as open heart surgery.audiophile wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 9:32 amJust appeared in my feed:

If you're talking about sitcoms, you are correct. What I used to call The Mork & Mindy Syndrome. More recently Big Bang Theory is a good example.audiophile wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 6:23 amHollywood Smollywood. The show starts out with just a few main characters. And it's a great show. Then the writing gets stale. The writers start running out of ideas. Instead of hiring new writers with fresh ideas, the same writers bring in more characters. And in my opinion it makes the show a little less special and a little too hectic. Just my view.

Isn't that exactly how "jump the shark" became a common idiom?Round Six wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 9:39 amIf you're talking about sitcoms, you are correct. Really it’s literally that… there was a show where that happened… after that it could no longer be taken seriously.km1125 wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 10:59 amIsn't that exactly how "jump the shark" became a common idiom?Round Six wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 9:39 amIf you're talking about sitcoms, you are correct. That came from Happy Days where they were running out of ideas and had Fonzie literally "jump a shark". It's also called "Ted McGinley Syndrome". Love Boat, Happy Days, Married...With Children...once he shows up, the clock is ticking.km1125 wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 10:59 amIsn't that exactly how "jump the shark" became a common idiom?Round Six wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 9:39 amIf you're talking about sitcoms, you are correct.
