Asymmetric Sidebands

The technical side of broadcasting. Think IBOC is a sham? Talk about it here! How about HDTV? Post DX reports here as well.

This is what will be considered by The FCC regarding improvements to digital radio coverage. Based on what I read there are instances where adjacent channel interference can be reduced. One example : 92.3 WMXD Detroit puts all the digital on the 92.1 MHz sideband and 92.5 WVKS Toledo puts the digital on the 92.7 MHz sideband, thus eliminating some of the bleed over. Right now both of those stations have digital RF on both sidebands. When possible, digital power may be increased as well.
