WCAR, Dark ?

The technical side of broadcasting. Think IBOC is a sham? Talk about it here! How about HDTV? Post DX reports here as well.

I find it odd that both WSDS and WGVU/WSLI have licenses to increase power at night. Are there daytimers by choice on 1480?

AM 1090's audio levels and signal strength are both super faint. The station is barely discernible.

Wouldn't surprise me if they are using a long wire setup to remain on the air.
My thinking ; if they had a fire , maybe the transmitter is a borrowed one at low power ?
Where I worked back in the early 60's, we had a backup for AM but not FM, I had to get the backup Raytheon on the air one late night shift when the Gates Went off like the 4th of july !
Don't broadcasters have backup equipment any more ??

I wish WCAR was dark. As I’ve commented in the past, I live less than 2 miles from this station. It’s always been a nuisance station. I saw on Facebook they were off the air recently. They’re back on, and now their signal splatters the AM dial between 1030 and 1150 (WDFN is strong enough to muddle through). I have tried several radios, including my best Panasonic RF-1600 with excellent selectivity, and it’s just a splattering mess. What is with this station?

They were playing a very odd music form last week, sounded like long form orchestral and choral, in a cave.

I think Birach has to be the worst radio broadcasting company of all the time. All there stations sound like garbage.

Got be a LMA- http://www.laexplosivadetroit.com/index.html
