Early History Of TV Allotments And Stations And Channel 1 History

The technical side of broadcasting. Think IBOC is a sham? Talk about it here! How about HDTV? Post DX reports here as well.

Early History Of TV Allotments And Stations And Channel 1 History

Post by Ben Zonia » Sun May 30, 2021 10:12 am

Only three stations had regular broadcasts on Channel 1. The rest never came on the air, or were experimental. What is now WBBM-TV 2 is probably the only one that could be regularly viewed in Michigan, although WSBT-TV 22 had a construction permit that was never built. I can only imagine the problems that both of those being on Channel 1 would have caused.

My understanding was that the channel 1's moved to 7 when VHF-High became available.
