Vintage Sony Portable

Found this image in a google search

I had this very radio back in the early 60s. Five transistor, pocket size, AM only. Loved it.

It was about a $50 radio. There's no way I ever could have afforded it. I won it in a contest. I no longer have it. Don't remember what happened to it. I never throw away a radio anymore.

I started out with nothing and I still have most of it.

Did it actually run on a 9V battery, or some other battery source?

9 V. That was the days before alkaline. Just a regular 9V battery cost about half a buck, which to me was a lot of money, and they didn't last long.
