Massive WOMC interference in Brighton

The technical side of broadcasting. Think IBOC is a sham? Talk about it here! How about HDTV? Post DX reports here as well.

I'm pleased to report your images are now displaying properly, Chris.

I do apologize for the earlier display issues; it was a function of my SSL and security header settings. My new security suite is much more robust than my old one, and I'm learning some things via trial-and-error.

Thanks! I noticed that yesterday, that they appeared as normal again, and said "hmm, must have been some code error". I figured it fixed itself automatically, but I appreciate you taking the effort to fix it! I knew it wasn't any issue with images being too big in dimension or file size as I'm hosting them on my own site and messed around with them to no avail!

But they're there now, so no worries :)

While people are here discussing tropo, an old opening from September I finally compiled and edited the audio clips from:

Back in September, we had a massive tropo opening here in the Great Lakes that sent stations flying 500 or 600 miles out with a sprawling high pressure system moving east very slowly. The bulk of the opening concentrated specifically on St. Louis where stations from those towers were being heard here at near-local levels for a few hours - though many of them were distorted - and other areas even 150+ miles more distant than my location around the same time. People from the Upper Peninsula to Detroit and beyond were hearing St. Louis all at once before stations up and down the west edge of the duct started popping up at intense strength.

I was cleaning up the St. Louis band - though only heard in the study room and nowhere else (had I been using a rooftop antenna, I highly doubt I'd have heard anything) - before things opened up elsewhere in the Midwest, still all stations on the western edge of the duct, outlined perfectly on the maps at the time. I had to work that night, so no clue what I missed, but a lot of the stations were scattered about, but those that DID come in were SOLID in stereo for an extended time. Numerous very close locals - some of my absolute hardest to find a null in - were outright being crushed by distant stations. Though I didn't get as much time as I wanted with this opening, it was certainly a memorable one and I got whatever I could with the time I had.

Logs are below with selected station audio linked below the logs.

I was getting some distant TV stations from Detroit and Lansing at the same time. I also got signals on DT-7, DT-9, and DT-19, but could not pull in the stations so I don't know who they were. I did not get Grand Rapids or Toledo or anything south of Detroit.

I was getting some distant TV stations at this time also; from Detroit and Lansing. Nothing from Grand Rapids, Toledo, or points south. I got signals on DT-7, DT-9, and DT-19, but not strong enough to pull them in.
