Spanish Station on AM 1030

The technical side of broadcasting. Think IBOC is a sham? Talk about it here! How about HDTV? Post DX reports here as well.

This morning at 7:30 just before WUFL came on the air, I was receiving a Spanish Language station loud and clear on AM 1030 any ideas ?

WONQ 1030 Oviedo, FL, near Orlando, is my guess. 45000 watts Day nondirectional. WNVR 1030 Vernon Hills, IL, near Chicago, would be another possibility, but would power up later, and they are in Polish, not Spanish. WNVR has 10000 watts Day DA and a CP for 25000 watts Day DA. Ask WCCW 1310 alumnus David "Eduardo" Gleason, sometime Omena, MI resident, for a more definitive answer.

Thanks TC, I know there’s 2 or 3 in the South East that are fairly powerful, and actually I haven’t been able to hear WBZ much anymore at least lately.

Another possibility is WWGB Indian Head, MD, which carries Spanish religion as "Radio Poder." If you're hearing the word "Dios" a lot that's probably it.

I've heard Indian Head before, when it was WBZE and it was in English. Art Vuolo was seriously perturbed that not only was it stepping all over WBZ, it had stolen the call letters. I've seen Indian Head, too, but not in a long time.
