Apologies for the temporary site outage from approximately 1PM ET on Monday, December 11 through the pre-dawn hours of Tuesday. The Buzzboard was targeted (yet again) by a hacker, this time from the Middle East. The site was able to be restored using a backup file from early Sunday morning.

County Comm GP-5/SSB and Tecsun PL-360

The technical side of broadcasting. Think IBOC is a sham? Talk about it here! How about HDTV? Post DX reports here as well.

I need one more radio like a drunk needs one more drink. But these two look interesting. Do any of you have either of them?

Is that a tunable ferrite bar, or audio on the top of the Tecsun PL-360 ?

Looks like the old Hogan's Heroes RDF equipment, less the digital display.

And yes Turkeytop, we are in need of a 12-step program:

"Hello, my name is WOHO (hello WOHO) - I have been a 'radioholic' for exactly 40 years now...it started out small, just a Japanese transistor radio, but when I got that multiband with shortwave and a UHF tuner, I was hooked...."

The specs supplied on the link do not look very promising, the ext ferrite bar ant is not really big enough to help all that much on MW or SW. They totally leave out the selectivity numbers (kHz bandwidth measured)! You would be better off with the TecSun PL660 for a few bucks more.
Or if you are serious about Portable SW SSB reception and listening to quality FM stereo with good headphones get the PL880, cost is about double the GP5, mine is priceless !
Happy listening :D
