The technical side of broadcasting. Think IBOC is a sham? Talk about it here! How about HDTV? Post DX reports here as well.

A coule of years ago, someone posted these links to a really great website that displayed the daytime and nighttime patterns for every AM station on every frequency in North America. It was a really good tool for identifying DX stations.
Now, when I try to open any of them up, the maps are dark and I get an error message saying
"This page can't load Google Maps correctly."
Somebody please try it and see if you get the same result. I don't know if the problem is with the website or with my computer

I don't mean to brag, but I just put a puzzle together in 1 day and the box said 2-4 years.

Interesting.
I'm able to see the patterns, though I see the error message window as well. It's opaque, but I can move the map around to get around the problem.

The maps used to be bright and easy to read.

It is an issue with google's API. They recently starting charging people money to host their maps on their websites. This is the reason the radio locator website abandoned google maps and went back to their original maps.

Thanks. That explains it.

I still can see the map and patterns, but not quite what they used to be like.
The google maps error goes away if you click "OK"

Thanx for posing the question, Turkey! I was very bugged many months ago when this change happened and I couldn't figure out how to get it back the way it was and I tried everything! At first, I thought it was my computer too until I tried the other 4 rigs in the house and my smartphone and see the same prob on all of 'em. It's very hard to enjoy the site with Googles 'tainting' as they have. Wish the owner would 'switch' to a new map source too like Radio-locator did.
Until this post, I figured someone had just hacked the site?

The latest download of that software from the link below removed the Google map overlay message, as well as making several other changes. Below is a sample of a current map display.

For a data point, in 1964 on a trip to the World's Fair I was able to listen to WJR on my Volkswagen's stock radio on the PA Tpke near Somerset, SE of Pittsburgh — which is about at the 0.1 mV/m contour shown on this map.

For me, the old links seem to be working again, with the proper maps.
