Reciva to stop streaming broadcast radio on 1/31/2021

If you have any streaming radios that uses the Reciva service be aware that it will shut down on 1/31/2021. I have a Grace Mondo and it will become a useless brick on that day.

Are there any internet radios on the market that does NOT use Reciva? I thought of buying one recently, but decided not to, as many used Reciva, and what I read, they're not compatible with all streaming formats.

The Denon in our living room uses vtuner. Vtuner https://www.vtuner.com/ moved to a subscription model and it costs $3.00 per year which I gladly paid.

I have been using a Grace Digital radio for years and it is affected by the Reciva issue. They gave me an offer of 30% on any new radio and I ordered one https://gracedigital.com/products/mondo-elite.

I asked their tech support about where they are getting their station list from and they said that they have their own and are maintaining it themselves. There was a station with an inop stream and I wrote to them with the correct stream and they fixed it in a few hours.

Just get a real radio.

Internet streaming is no more like real radio than intravenous feeding is like fine dining..

Agreed. I listen to ahortwave stations that have webstreams on my ham radio instead. It saves them money.

Don't get me wrong as I love OTA radio but vtuner and streaming in general lets me listen to stations that are not possible to get locally. We listen to WQXR in NYC, WOMR and WFCC on Cape Cod and Radio Caroline a lot and these is no other way to hear these. Hell, I cannot get CBEW on 97.5 in Windsor until I get my crossed dipole backup and that is only 27 miles away. So the only way I can hear CBC Radio 1 right now is via streaming.

awww, Merry Fricken Christmas :( First the Logitech Squeezeboxes stopped getting support, so Grace Digital got my business for an internet radio- now you're telling me my damn Grace Mondo is gonna be a blob of plastic in January? Sumbitch. Anything to do with support for Adobe Flash going away? I'm not sure it is a lost cause just yet, IF, , that is a big IF, SiriusXM doesn't change their streaming methods for the 3rd time, that should still work on the Grace Digital, but losing the Reciva and ability to have them add stations to it is a buzzkill.

I have a CCrane internet radio receiver that I got as a prize from Dave Graveline's Into Tomorrow show several years back. The receiver uses Receiva as its database. I've had a good share of fun with it, and it's the only model CCrane still sells. I would assume they'll discontinue it with the deadline approaching. Fun while it lasted.

My wife ordered me a shortwave receiver with SSB for Christmas. Still waiting for it to arrive, but I plan on enjoying it!

Shortwave is the ORIGINAL satellite radio.

Would be nice if Grace Digital would give us trade-ins for 50% off on replacement Internet Radios after the early death of their Mondo model, which is too bad as it works pretty decent, until this crash-and-burn with Receiva renders it an orphan.

The gave me 30% off on a new model. Also they are maintaining their own DB of internet stations now.

Give them a shout and ask for a discount. https://gracedigital.com/

This may seem like a dumb question, are there any internet radios that also have fm radio built into them that also have great reception? Up here in northern MI, some stations do not stream(most of the ludington station don’t stream) and would be nice to be able to listen to them on the same device.

I use a similar setup with my SXM receiver. I made an illegal modification to the C Crane transmitter to boost the output power.

I can pick it up anywhere on my property and about a half block away on the car radio..
