This is not realy "news" to anyone who has an interest in radio.
Wonder if there are any Detroit-area sites being eyed for this purpose.

I'm sure Entercom would love to unload the WXYT tower site & associated land. It is located very close to the I-275 / I-75 junction.
They could keep the WYXT license alive by diplexing at the WWJ site, if they wanted (but why even bother?).

Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.

I think they'd do better, at least in the Daytime, to move back and put some type of skirted tower arrangement on the WWJ-TV or other very nearby tower. WRDT uses such an arrangement at Night, but the power is only 13.9 watts. Measure all the radials, and go to the highest nondiectional power they can Days. There are many stumbling blocks to diplexing it at the WWJ 950 site, such as getting enough power to serve the Northern counties and regions. As unusual as the pattern and tower arrangement are, the late Glen Clark did the best he could working within the rules at the time. New AM rules proposed might make it easier. Mathematical Engineers talk about degrees of freedom and degrees of limitation, and there were plenty of degrees of limitation for WXYT.

Of note, the Detroit market now has its first diplex operation.
WCXI and WPON are using the same set of towers.

I've quipped my entire career that there are two businesses whose property holdings typically exceed the value of the rest of the business: General aviation airports, and AM radio stations.
The box that many broadcasters won’t look outside of was made in 1969 and hasn’t changed significantly since.

Innate, tell me about the WCXI and WPON arrangement? CXI have 50KW days?
