I will agree, usually that is a small-market issue. But budgets do make or break.

Ah, the duopoly is owned by Meredith. About the only owner out there more incompetent than Scripps and Tegna. That speaks volumes!

I didn’t realize Meredith bought KTVK until that article. I know they have owned KPHO for years.

As someone who grew up watching WNEM TV5 News, I can truly say I wish Meredith would get out of the broadcasting business. Watching what happened to their news operation there - from being the best, most professional around to a damn near laughing stock with horrible reporters and story telling - is a true testament to their incompetence

I think back to 1976 and Robbie Timmons on CH2 Detroit- CBS had a full-time top notch news operation in a top 10 market, then post-1986 FOX bought all those coveted VHF stations, including Detroit and Cleveland, and then had CBS scrambling for a POS UHF signal and an even crappier news operation.
Who was the sweet woman who was doing weather on 62 with Jim Maddog Maddus, (he was a complete arse to her?) She was in radio, became a Mom and tried broadcasting again to realize that the broadcasting model is totally broken now?
