WWV and another adjacent station
On New Years Eve just before 7PM, I tuned into WWV on 5 MHZ to listen to the new year turnover, 2355 DEC 31 to 0003 JAN 1. At 2359, some strong station adjacent to it started up and blocked WWV out. I can't remember the calls, but it identified itself as someplace in South Carolina. It did this last...

Re: DIY antenna designs for attic?
How about a small one that I can hang from the ceiling in a first floor apartment? My current rabbit ears and bow tie can only get the strong local stations.

Re: Most distant AM/FM/TV signal you ever tuned in?
Back in th mid 19702 (pre-digital), I would frequently pull in VHF low stations from Florida, Louisiana, Wyoming, and Boston My farthest was KENW, channel 3, Portales, New Mexico. In the digital era, my farthest has been Fort Wayne (once in the last 10 years); Bowling Green, Ohio (twice). Has anybod...

Re: Battle of the Christmas set displays
On 12, where they have the individual reports say 'happy holidays' with a background and their name, in some cases, I can not read the name because it is too small. Make it larger.

Re: Low power TVs in Tri-Cities
As of last week at least, WLLC 17.1 is the Justice Network, 17.3 is Quest (old History Channel re-runs). The last couple of days, 17.3 has been blank a lot, but not all, of the time. It also PSIPs to 17 now, rather than 25. 38.5 and 38.6 seem to be QVC and Home Shopping Network. For both 17 and 38, ...

Re: The anchor shuffle at WWJ
I heard Greg Bowman's last shift. It seems that Brooke Allen is in real life Mrs. Greg Bowman. That's why they worked so well together.

Re: 50.5 Circle Network coming soon
Circle also started on 12.3 in the Tri-Cities on January 1 (weather moved to 12-6). They have F-Troop at noon on weekdays. On Jan 1, they had show number 1, which had the story of how Parmenter got his medal, promoted to Captain, and sent to F-Troop. In the intro with the theme song, that old bearde...

If you think that they are pirates, then shiver their timbers and poop their deck.

WWJ in Kentucky
I was coming back from a conference last month in Tennessee, and I was tuning around the AM radio in the car. I managed to pick up WWJ, not 100%, but easily hearable; about 10 miles south of Cincinnati in Northern Kentucky. It was Saturday evening in the 8:20PM time frame (still daylight), and I hea...

Low power TVs in Tri-Cities
Just within the last 3 weeks or so, apparently two low power TV stations have started up in the Tri City area. One seems to be WLLD-LD, wihich gives a PSIP of 25, which intermingles with WEYI. It has several sub-channels, but 3 of them appear to be just paid half-hour advertisements. One seems to be...

Re: Renaming TV obituaries
When a former Bay County Sheriff died recently, His obit was on ObitMichigan, but was not in the Bay City Times/M-live/Legacy.com site. I had to go here to find the information on him. This is a good alternative site to put them.
