Re: Crumbley found guilty
I'm no expert but a judge can absolutely reject a plea agreement.

Re: Whitmer considers phased minimum wage increase
Let me start with disclaimers: 1. I am offering personal opinions based on personal observation 2. My observations are anecdotal and mostly from Ann Arbor, Pittsfield Township, Ypsilanti Township, and the various Grosse Pointes. Actually it’s a real question. If you can make $13 an hour so easily th...

Re: Whitmer considers phased minimum wage increase
I would agree the whole tipping thing should just go away. But it just seems to be getting bigger with tip jars everywhere that didn't used to be. But it's the system we have and I will continue to tip 20%-25% in a restaurant. When we get gift cards from the kids to eat out I might tip 50% since the...

Re: Whitmer considers phased minimum wage increase
These days with fast food places paying nearly $15 an hour how many people actually work for minimum wage and what's wrong with them? Restaurant workers and really any workers of the tip receiving variety make $3 or something an hour and make it up in tips. We still have to have people like that em...

Re: Digital license plates?
I could see a lot of benefits of this. Too often I see beat up plates that peeled and you can hardly read the plates. For some reason people choose not to replace them. But I think for these digital plates it would depend on how well they hold up in the harsh winters. Michigan makes you change your...

Re: Digital license plates?
Not sure how these work but is it hypothetically possible somebody could hack something, change the plate, commit a crime of some sort then change the plate back? A digital version of stealing a plate?
To answer the question I might pay $20 a year but not $20 a month.

Re: My voting list
I would be OK with proposal 3 if it included the so called viability clause rather than just allow for the legislature and Governor to potentially vote one in.

Re: Maurielle Lue Believes Aliens Will Attack Us
An interesting hypothetical on an alien attack.
On the one hand traveling as far as they did they would be far more technically advanced.
On the other hand traveling that far can they come in sufficient numbers to win?

Re: What Covid Measures May Become Permanent?
As a school bus driver in Ann Arbor masks are now optional.
I wear a KN95 mask when kids are in the bus.
If I had to guess I'd say about 60% of the kids are wearing them. Maybe more.
I think I'll keep track for a few days.

Re: Uber Vs Taxi
I've never used Uber either. What would a ride cost me, say, if I had to ride forty miles to the airport? You can plug in a trip and get an estimate. I just plugged in Ann Arbor train station to DTW and its about $60 for a little under 30 miles. Thank you, Craig. So you need a smartphone, download ...

Re: Uber Vs Taxi
My wife's youngest daughter and her husband lived in Chicago for 12-13 years. They used Uber extensively with Lyft as a backup and rarely taxi's. At one point her daughter was such a "preferred customer" that she had a 2 week period when all rides were $5. I've used Uber maybe 2 or 3 times over the ...
