White Cloud Bandscan
I decided to do a brief basic bandscan this afternoon in White Cloud, which is typical similar to my home location 14 miles away in Fremont (my Fremont content can be found here ). The biggest differences are slightly weaker stations toward Holland and stronger stations from Mid-Michigan, but very l...

Re: 99.3 WQAN Signal Strength
92.3 has been heard here in Fremont much more often in the past two weeks or so breaking through Power, especially in the morning hours. Can't really say the same for 101.9, but it's further and it has a wall of IBOC in its way too.

Re: WLAV Tower Relocation
I think those along the lakeshore and up to 15-20 miles inland should be prepared for The Drive this spring and summer... Chicagoland signals are already slamming in on and off in the past week and once mid-May comes when it starts to be more of a daily thing, LAV will likely be an afterthought on 9...

Re: WLAV Tower Relocation
Nope. They definitely are on the 107.3 site still. Crystal clear signal in Ionia County. Listenable signal as far away as west Lansing. Yeah, I still have Sheboygan K-Love and The Drive in WLAV's null in the same spot I did when they moved to 107.3's site, which clearly would not exist anymore had ...

Re: Clueless meteorologists in West Michigan
It's usually smarter to wait til at least early afternoon to bash the forecast .
Twas 70 and clear here in Fremont on Saturday and 75 and clear on Sunday. Though looking toward the southeast on Saturday as they sat all day in the low 40s... whew, that had to suck for them!

Re: Early Spring Tropo Reports
At 10am check, still really good conditions, though kinda lost the excitement of it by now. Mostly the same stations, but not much over 250 miles. 97.1 is especially empty - weak Cow 97 and The Fan Columbus. No GLQ or The Drive! Under these oddball conditions, I'd check for WDBS, but alas, no sign o...

Re: Early Spring Tropo Reports
By 1am local time in Fremont, conditions have changed and added strong enhancement to the mix, and more western tropo including Eau Claire, Wausau, Quad Cities, and Twin Cities, up to about 370 miles. Nothing new noted. A few highlights on the portable radio: 87.7 Cleveland 88.3 Menomonie (WPR Eau C...

Early Spring Tropo Reports
Good day. Conditions have been favorable the past few days here in West Michigan. Despite the 11" of snow here in Fremont, signals were still falling from the heavens (or refracting off the basement of heaven anyway). Tuesday night has been much better though. With WMOM gone, WRVM has easily taken i...

Re: Most distant AM/FM/TV signal you ever tuned in?
TV... Picked up a station from Nevada coming in over Channel 9 in Windsor, some time around 1980. Was booming in strong for a half hour, then quickly faded away. I haven't even attempted to DX TV since the DTV transition. That's... interesting. Nevada is impossible via tropo in Michigan due to the ...

I think you're actually right. Translators feed off a host station to get stronger . They are parasites!

Re: The Ticket Reception
Q106's signal was being picket-fenced as far eastward as the Clarksville - Saranac exit off I-96. Before 106.1 GR signed on, I used to have no issue at all picking up Q106 as far west as the M-6/M-37 junction. Station would reach that point or even a couple miles beyond with a nearly crystal clear ...

Re: Sunny 92.5 / 97.5 Nash Icon
The RDS on 92.5 when I checked early this afternoon still said "92.5 NASH ICON." What a cluster----!!! Driving by the 92.5 tower on Friday morning, I figured I'd check their RDS to see if anything changed. As usual, I think station management (just of any/all stations people discuss on these boards...

Re: Sunny 92.5 / 97.5 Nash Icon
the giant media companies can GTFO of here anytime. they are doing nothing for muskegon and they have ruined a once fairly healthy media market. All the other nonsense aside (all of which I agree with), Muskegon does still have a fairly healthy radio market anyway in comparison to some other market...

Re: WMOM shuts down
I respect the fact WMOM never relied (at least to the best of my knowledge) on generic satellite feeds to fill large blocs of programming time. To my knowledge as well. Though I was never a regular listener, as my local, I obviously tuned it in regularly over the years and don't even think I can re...

Re: Sunny 92.5 / 97.5 Nash Icon
The RDS on 92.5 when I checked early this afternoon still said "92.5 NASH ICON." What a cluster----!!! I did hear liners on-air with local IDs, however. 92.5 is mostly correct in their RDS. All PS info shows as Sunny. However, the engineer needs to change the RT and PTY still. 97.5's PTY remains th...
