Re: NOAA Weather Radio
I have NOAA receivers in my barns, as sometimes when I'm wrenching, I'm not paying attention to what's going on outside unless something like a H*** wind gust comes blasting. On the road, my CB's have wx band on them. I find them handy for when you find yourself in a parking lot that is supposed to ...

Forgive me asking, but I've heard bay leaves can kill you if you forget and leave them in. Any truth to that?

Looks a lot like the cat detector van from the Ministry of Housinge. It reportedly can pinpoint a purr at 400 feet.

"No doubt he had talked to a consultant who thought it could be repeated or waived."
Or he just pulled it out of his ass.
FCC rules meant nothing to that guy, one of the true bottom feeders of the radio industry.

Re: The Good Old Days of Full-Powered Analog TV
Well a test is coming up soon. WLAJ/WLNS has an approved CP for 950 kW on channel 14. This is being built right now and will move both stations to the old Okemos site. Maybe we'll be playing Loverboy for Taylor again soon. (this is just a joke from me, I often heard this request picking up the phone...

Re: The Good Old Days of Full-Powered Analog TV
WLNS reached as far as Taylor into the Detroit DMA with a pretty clear signal back then, of course on low band VHF, which can make those distances. Problem is analog could work with less signal strength, digital requires a certain number of bits just to construct a picture, once the received info dr...

Re: Metro Detroit CB
I had a Starduster back in the 70's, must have been a good sunspot cycle, I talked to Vancouver, Texas, and Florida off of it completely barefoot. I had the same luck with a Maco V-5/8 in the late 90's/early 2000's. I still have radios in all my vehicles, and am putting a tower up in the Spring. One...
