Re: Looking for antenna advice
I wonder if it would be possible to just hook up a VHF High folded dipole to a 4 Bay UHF Bow Tie without a combiner without compromising performance. Or maybe just a VHF UHF Splitter/Combiner, that would work for certain. It would have to be a 300 ohm VHF/UHF splitter/combiner. You do want to get an...

Re: Looking for antenna advice
If you can find one with a full half wave VHF High Element, maybe. I wouldn't count on CBET 9 coming in on a 4 Bay UHF Bow Tie. I think they are on low power now. They were coming in well for a while, now barely at the edge of the cliff and pixelated and off the cliff. That's with a VHF 7 element V ...

Re: CIAO 530 Now CHLO 530
CJFT moved to FM. CIAO started a new station on 530, or moved from another frequency.

CIAO 530 Now CHLO 530
After many years the CHLO call letters are back on the air, on 530, in Brampton.
https://fccdata.org/?lang=en&facid=106051
For many years, CHLO was in St. Thomas, on 680 and later on 1570.

Re: Theory regarding Cumulus' next format move
Years ago, back around 1985, I asked one of the WCHB founders or managers why they didn't just apply for one of the new Class A frequencies in Grand Rapids, 98.7 or 100.5. He said that it was difficult to sell an R & B format in Grand Rapids. He said you could be #1 in the ratings and still flounder...

Re: WPON Update - 2019
Is 1160 still using the North Rd towers in Fenton? I recall, from the WFEN/WACY era, the station was decent at the Flint township/Mt Morris township border, even at night. It was listenable anyway. WFEN was originated as a local service to the Fenton and northern Livingston/southern Genesee county ...

Re: WBBL gone
Townsquare owns 104.9/1410, not Cumulus. There's no way Townsquare would ever do a deal of that nature with Cumulus. They did a back scratch deal like that in Lansing as I recall. Do you remember why? Townsquare used the WTRX call letters on 93.7 in Pontiac, IL for a while. So an important ingredie...

Re: WBBL gone
Not sure if they could swap out the WNWZ 1410 translator on 104.9 with the WJRW/WBBL 1340 AM translator, or would want to. Another topic for a former Univision VP to comment on. There's just no way to go E and SE on 106.1 well. They could park the WJRW callsign somewhere I guess if they think they a...

CH DXing is fun lately. In Chicago near the Lake, WSGW is reportedly booming in especially during CH lately.

Re: Dr. Hook dies
The songs, both Sylvia's Mother and The Cover Of The Rolling Stone, were actually written by Shel Silverstein. Sylvia's Mother was VERY autobiographical, except Pandolfi didn't fit the lyrics, so it became Avery. I think it captures the true feelings of all three people in such a situation, though s...

Re: FM translator signal range in Metro Detroit
Thanks, Rich, for the analysis. There is flatter and downhill terrain to the ~150 degrees null South of the TL, so except for ground clutter and a 2 meter AGL Receiving Antenna Height, I would expect less loss, and probably little to no loss or very little at 20+ feet AGL.

Re: WSM 650
Can you get KBHR 580 K-Bear there since the "Upgrade"? :rollin I swear I think they got Chris Stevens character name from Kris Eric Stevens. One was from the 906 Area Code, the other from the 907 Area Code. Both Frozen Tundra. Ever hear of Peter Kott and Bernard Rosenberg there in Alaska? They went ...
