Re: WHNE
Some random signal strength readings using cheap rabbit ears with a UHF loop: WHNE = 17 dB (average; highly sensitive to placement. Peak is 22 dB). WDIV and WMYD 20.2= 34 dB. WXYZ and WMYD 20.1 = 31 dB. WDWO = 16 dB. WJBK and WMYD 20.3 = 22 dB with dipoles collapsed. Improves to 34 dB with dipoles ...

Re: WJMN dumping CBS?
A newscast filmed at a co-owned station in Erie, PA will reportedly air on WZMQ 19.2 at 6pm & 11pm. Does anyone know from where ABC 10's newscasts originate? Do the newscasters still stand in front of a chroma key well? (I hate that look, by the way. The lower thirds used on that newscast look nice...

Re: WJMN dumping CBS?
WJMN fowled up their digital transition. They were determined to have a solid-state transmitter and did not want to build translators. WJMN has a highly directional antenna, with a tight major lobe aimed at Iron Mountain - one of three significant cities in central Upper Peninsula, with very little ...

Re: WJMN dumping CBS?
Wow.
WJMN is/was a satellite of WFRV in Green Bay. Will WFRV have the same low-budget schedule of WJMN?
I expect that both of the other full-service stations in the area will have two major networks from each transmitter - many rural markets further west are now twin-stick stations.

Re: WMYD 20.1 gave up the ghost
It's bizarre you can get WTVG but not WTOL. Both are VHF-hi signals, as each broadcasts on its respective PSIP channel. WTOL cranks out a little more power than WTVG and its transmitting antenna is higher, too. I would suggest adjusting your antenna or purchasing a new antenna and then rescanning. ...

Re: What's going on on 1480?
Spanish programming on Ypsi's 1480 but today when I was tuning the band , watching AM modulation bandwidth on my band scope, I heard OLDIES from the 60's playing on 1480 ! Change of format now ?? I did not listen for long and may go back and monitor again later. Are you sure you weren't listening t...

Re: 36.x subchannels all Scripps diginets
Teddy, you thinking WTOL could spin-off WUPW to the Scripps boys for some quick cash? IF they could have sold the WUPW tower for big bucks, I would have figured WTOL would have taken the FCC's cash to dump the WUPW RF signal and relocated the WUPW FOX programming as a subchannel of WTOL? Also, if y...

Too early, IMHO.ChrisWL1980 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 28, 2021 5:36 pmI heard an on-air announcement a few days ago stating that they would be making the switch on November 5. Not to say they couldn't do it earlier if someone else goes first.
To start that early would be gunpowder, treason and plot!

I remember when KAAY was listenable at night at Platte Lake (Benzie co), but was undetectable at my home near Cadieux and I-94 in Detroit.ZenithCKLW wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 10:32 pmI also received KAAY, although I had trouble identifying it. Good catch.
That was some cutoff, since KAAY's azimuth was not that far off.

Re: WUFL QRMing WBZ Oct 14
Tuning around AM dial around 1 am Thursday morning (10/14) discovered that WBZ 1030 Boston's usually good signal was being completely swamped by WUFL, which had obviously not signed off past sundown. Not hearing this tonight, so this was either an engineering test, an error, or a violation. Was the...

Re: WCCW AM tower site for sale
I thought so. The signal to the North is worse than it was with 5000 watts nondirectional, so I figured that the STA was operating. Why they applied for 3250 watts Day instead of 15000/4=3750 watts which would be allowed puzzles me. 7500/4=1875 watts Night makes sense. However, I wonder that if the...

Re: CB Skip...it's Back
..... Another potential issue is bleed-over to adjacent channels, as FM transmissions require more bandwidth. The channel spacing was originally allocated for low-bandwidth AM transmission .... I may need a refresher. I always thought that AM was a wide signal. I did a little googling. Couldn't asc...

Re: WADL lands My Network TV
I know. But I can't pick up WADL because they're way on the east side. I live on the west side. The west side of the state? I'm on the west side of the metro area and I usually don't have any problem picking them up No. I live on the west side of Detroit. If you're using a sharply directional anten...

Re: 1320 WDMJ Marquette VERY weak
Here's a wild idea... Is there some reason why WDMJ can't move to the former 1240 site on U.S.41? There must be, because it almost seems too easy. The terrain is so hilly, and the soil conductivity so poor, that, as a class IV station, unable to exceed the 1kw Class C limit, its signal would be wea...
