Re: I could use a little help! (AM radio)
How long is your "speaker wire" antenna " ? , 50 ft is about the minimum to make improvement over a "loopstick" on the back of the radio... I like tthose 50 turn coil loops on a 2 ft frame that tune with a little variable cap and inductively couple to the radio's internal AM antenna. I got the wire ...

Re: Scanner Question
I just took a look at the specs for your handheld scanner, If it doesn't do DIGI modes or 800-900 MHz, you already need a new scanner

Re: List Of Airports Requiring 5G Buffer Zone
At first I thought Homeland security was going to try to ban the use of cellphones in or near airports !!!! There is lots of other radio comms outside of the direct airport ATC comms (108-136 mHz) on vhf and uhf and 800-900 mHz for other business operating on or near aiprort property !! LOTS of it. ...

Re: NextGen and the "volume problem"?
I was working on 800 MHz and microwave gear at a shared site some years ago, and ran into the engineer working on the WEMU FM transmitter. He was cmplaining about the FCC lack of specifics on level setting for HD and subchannels.Maybe that never got clarified in the rules /?/

Re: A Ratings Success For WWV

Re: 4 Channel, Quadraphonic Sound
I know there were some experiments using C-QuAM to pass Quad audio way back when, and it evidently worked. I recall I bought a used Chrysler car with AM stereo radio MANY years ago. I could her good stereo signals from KMOX in St Louis , and Chicago and NYC, on many late nights. Not much Stereo in ...

Re: 4 Channel, Quadraphonic Sound
I still wonder about the early stereo esperimants where one chan of audio went over aN AM station and simulcast other channel on an affiliated FM transmitter . I actually saw a few receivers that had dual tuners set up to do the reception of AM/FM Stereo sound.

Re: Analog vs. digital modulation
You want a course in Broadcast and RF transmission principles . Try you Tube videos / It would take a lot of typing to explain whe a FM raido can not recover audio from an AM Signal. Why FM transmission sounds like raw raspy noise when tuned to with an AM radio. Digital broadcasting it a totally dif...

Re: Anyone here go to RETS?
I worked with many RETS grads over the years. Iheard they had a good reputation I actually moved to Chicago just after grad high school in 1963, and went to DeVry tech school there/ Got a job in a suburban radio station doing engr work after I finished school . But got drafted by the Army at the end...

Re: WCAR, Dark ?
I have noticed the harsh sounding audio on 1160. Sounds like it's limiting to the rails. Operation un attended by a skilled engineer , no Doubt
Hearing long gaps of dead-air where local ads are probably supposed to be inserted.....No engineers OR Sales people around???

Re: WCAR, Dark ?
Now two more stations have gone dark. Today I noticed WCAR and WCXI are both off the air . Since they share a site and towers I wonder if there is a power outage . Maybe a STL land line for each station is in a cut cable ? I know I was having no internet connection via Xfinity for a while and phone ...
