Re: WGER flips to 106.3 The Core
Do you mean in terms of taking on an incumbent, highly successful hard rock station? Bear in mind Detroit had multiple stations playing hard rock or alternative at the time, whereas the Tri-Cities has only one (Z93), unless you wish to count Christian Rock Radio U 101.7 / 103.5. You are correct ins...

There is an audience for their music, otherwise they wouldn’t have tried to take on Z93

Re: WGER flips to 106.3 The Core
The absolute funniest thing is that I’ve heard the mid day chick twice ask for people to call in to tell her what they think of the new format. You’d think if they got a positive phone call, they’d play it back on the air. Instead, it appears that NO ONE called in. I question, given their half asse...

Re: WGER flips to 106.3 The Core
I've heard no currents or recurrents. I've not heard or observed (via log) anything more recent than 2008 or 2009 so far. Material from 1993 to 2005 probably comprises 90 percent of the playlist. And like you said, if the idiots running Detroit’s Alt 98.7 would have had the playlist Core 106.3 does...

Re: WGER flips to 106.3 The Core
Streaming them currently at work. 5-7 minutes of commercials aren’t going to cut it and I’d think there will be a lot of tune out based on that.
Other than that, this exactly the genre of music that Z93 should have been playing, with some currents and almost zero recurrents from the past 10 years

Re: WGER flips to 106.3 The Core
There are very few people complaining on their Facebook page about the format change. Still don’t think a 4,400 watt 106.3 is going to do much damage to a 39,000 watt 93.3. 106.3 doesn’t get out a lot past the Tri Cities. I find it hilarious that Alpha is boosting that their other 3 stations are in ...

Re: WGER flips to 106.3 The Core
Going to have to listen tomorrow on line after Z93’s Morning After as I’m out of market and have a local station at 106.1. Playlist listed online reminds me of a combination of SXM’s Turbo and Lithium and doesn’t appear that bad. Still think they’re somewhat foolish, with the tiny signal they have, ...
