Re: WWJ signal problems? (+ WJR audio distortion)

... is this up near Tawas City, and Day or Night or both? Actually, as you probably know, WWJ and other 50 kW stations from the Detroit Area are among the strongest ground waves and skywaves in that area ... According to the FCC engineering data for WWJ and WJR shown in the graphic below, the 50% n...

Re: Passive Repeaters On Hilltops

Say you put a high gain YagiLog to receive a signal, then feed it into another high gain YagiLog pointed in the opposite direction on a hilltop. How far would the signal be improved beyond the hilltop? Below is an estimate with some idea of the performance of a passive re-transmit arrangement, for ...

Re: Most distant AM/FM/TV signal you ever tuned in?

It is true that WJR once applied for 500 kW 24/7, using a directional pattern so as to reduce radiation to what their 50 kW license produced toward and near Toronto, ON (protecting 740 kHz).

Re: Most distant AM/FM/TV signal you ever tuned in?

RE (from CK-722): I did hear WTRX doing DX tests a few times, ...They would play a song, play a musical call letter jingle, and then the next song. it was Monday Morning about 1:00 or 2:00 AM. In the weekly 'experimental period' during the early-mid 1960s, WJR sometimes would test either their alter...
