Re: Seriously WTF?
I do indeed remember hearing R.E.M. on the Album Rock stations in West Michigan back in the day. Multiple singles, in fact. I get that WRIF doesn't want to alienate older listeners, but the two playlists overlap much too far.... move anything from 1995 and earlier to WCSX, and stick to 1995 and lat...

I respect this genre. I believe it requires a lot more skill to perform music of this speed and intensity than many folks realize.
However, the muddy, distorted production leaves a LOT to be desired. A clearer production would be neccesarry to really appreciate the musicianship.

Re: Top 10 Groups or Artist You Can’t Stand
Allow me an update. Lets take out Boston, who may be burned to a crisp on overplay but at least were good musicians. Replace them with the Beastie Boys. I actually cannot think of 1 song from them that I like. 25 years ago I was at summer camp and someone in our cabin brought Beastie cds and blasted...

Re: The Mentally ill-egitimate President
Most military combat veterans are men. You address their likes and dislikes throughout your commentary. Yet it will be women who decide Trump’s reelection. If Putin does not interfere again. On the other hand - if Putin interferes again then he will decide. Only this time he’ll be even more direct,...

Re: Songs With The Names Of States In Their Title
Short-lived Canadian grunge(?) band Rusty in the 90s had a minor radio hit with "California". Wax had a minor hit with a different, unrelated song of the same name. The video was more highly acclaimed than the song. It featured a man on fire chasing a bus. Real fire, utilizing a stuntman. Little Fea...

Re: Radio: West Side vs. East Side
"I'm Jessica Matthews with WHMI new..........s" I know what you mean. I, too, love the local aspect, but when they were playing the same song as WCSX and I flipped back and forth, the audio processing wasn't even a competition. WCSX won hands down. I always liked WHMI until sometime in 2005 when I ...

The Old WRIF Magazine
Does anyone remember the old magazine WRIF used to put out? IIRC, it would have been around the very early 90s. It was small in diameter, all black and white, and distributed at music stores. It included "Unpleasant Ways To Die" comics and "Separated At Birth?" The issue I had contained an interview...

Re: Radio: West Side vs. East Side
Ive always liked WHMI until K-love put a translator on that frequency and pretty much blocked it. All local commercials for little mom and pop businesses. Though the news reporters enunciation and voice pushing got real annoying. I was able to pick that station up as far as Southfield when I worked ...

All LGBTQ+ characters are the “good guys.” If it’s truly accepted, and not simply politically protected and preferred, we need villains played by LGBTQ+ characters! WE NEED TRUE EQUALITY!!!! wasnt there an Andrew Cunany documentary? (do documentaries count?) There was a FX Limited Series, (Mini Ser...

In old car chases, there were always hubcaps rolling away. Often, you'd see 2 or 3 flying off, but in later shots, they would all still be on the car.

How many country stations do you think this market needs? Two, which is precisely what it has now (not counting "fringe" signals that are technically "in the market" such as WSAQ Port Huron). Right now, country is popular because it has crossover appeal with pop music. I dont think it does well at ...

Re: Top 10 Groups or Artist You Can’t Stand
There's not a lot of music I don't care for, so I'll give my top 5 least favorite acts. 1. Tom Waits- Guy can't sing at all and don't know how he's considered at times to be one of the best singers of all time. 2. Bob Dylan- one of the best writers of his time but for the most part, can't sing at a...
