Re: Under Construction-100 Oldest Radio Stations In The US
The 8MK callsign was in the format that was issued to expreimantal, Amateur (non commercial radio) operations, later a prefix for each country was agreed upon by international treaty. ( when it was discovered radio waves went over national boundaries :D ) Then later, the commercial ship, shore and b...

Re: WCXI problems
I believe when the FCC grants a broadcasat license, you are obliged to PROVIDE A SERVICE to listeners in your coverage area. You just can't shut it off and go home at night !!

Re: WCXI problems
Last few times I checked WCXI late at night , 1160 had a strong carrier and just some faint background modulation, maybe spillover from WPON also at the Wixom, site ? Any news about this ? WPON on 1460, had the oldies music going at the times I heard the dead air from WCXI !

Re: WTVS repack upgrades completed
I assume it's still up on the WKBD/WTVS tower at 11 MIle and Inkster Road?
They move those FM and TV transmitters around like men on a ChessBoard
AM towers are harder to uproot and move aroud.

Re: What's your typical FM Dial?
Back when I got my first FM tuner, in 1961, I recall there were fewer than 10 signals I could hear on a flat day, from the Detroit area with a twinlead dipole tacket to the ceiling of my room on ground floor here. When there was a tropo opening I could easily hear stations from Ohio and Ontario from...

Re: What's your typical FM Dial?
I bought a Used F-150 to haul my camper and it had the Satellite radio, whenever they have free listning days , I had to check it out,
I find the audio quality is not even as good as monoural FM. There are a few non stereo High School stations that sound better to me.

Re: y'think this might be true? (AM DX)
I get irritated hearing the same exact program material on multiple spots on the AM and FM dial ! I guess it's a monopoly situation, where the competition is squeezed out and some day we will just hear a single program on the entire spectrum ! The K-Smile program on FM and the conspiracy/UFO guy on...

Re: Scanners
Speaking of Scanners, or WX radios, Anyone else notice the NOAA VHF WX channel has gone down. It's not just my several rcvrs since I still hear the Canada WX broadcast from Sarnia on 162.475/ Just nothing on 162.55 and the few other US WX freqs in range of my antennas.
Any reports ?
