Re: Lima's 940 WCIT Drops Sports

250 watts and 6 watts at night, not much you can do with it. Seems like nothing has lasted. Urban, Oldies, News/talk, Sports, etc... . With CInw gone, could 940 increase there power now? They likely won't. Unless the 1941 NARBA treaty is renegotiated, 940 is still reserved as a Canadian class 1-A f...

Re: 103.7 WCKY

98.3 is taking the Nash Icon feed 24/7, no? Whatever music issues they had would be across-the-board. (And "flagship" WSM-FM outranks WKDF and WSIX in Nashville, so it's apparently working in Music City. Go figure.) WCKY is still a Tiffin/Findlay station because the transmitter was never moved in cl...

Re: 103.7 WCKY

It wasn't worth it for iHeart to give up another revenue stream like that by slapping Speedy on 103.7. Plus, as was seen with WOWO, the audience easily would stay on the AM side to the point where a full-power FM simulcast was unnecessary. Talk radio has a lot of problem formantically that moving to...

Re: Lima's 940 WCIT Drops Sports

They do now have a fm translator, don't know how powerful it is 100 watts or less, usually. For a small market like Lima, the max power of 250 watts for FM translators is the norm. And the FM translator is what 99.999999999999% of the audience will be listening to. 940 will be an outright afterthou...

Classic country then? I was thinking Urban perhaps
There's a big format hole for urban in Lima, definitely. Funny thing is that 940 had an urban format early on under Forever ownership... prior to their first stint with sports (which wound up moving to 93.1).

Re: Lima's 940 WCIT Drops Sports

If you don't subscribe to Lance (which is understandable), he bandied the word "Legendary" in what is now clearly a paywall tease for 940 WCIT.

And "Legendary" brings up in my mind a possible flanker for WFGF.

Re: 103.7 WCKY

If done right, classic country can carve its' own niche and have a loyal, devoted following (see the WKFI/WEDI/WBZI trimulcast in Dayton, or WOBL in Oberlin). Haven't listened much to iHeart's classic country feed so who knows what will happen. Bobby Bones remaining in AMD is a stretch, but a market...

Re: 106.5 Toledo

Although I still always wonder why they bothered heavily tweaking the Zone's format from alternative to (shitty off the bird) active rock for like a month before 1470 was shut down and the talk shows moved onto 100.7. Highly likely that it was a stop-gap move after discontinuing the local music pro...

Re: 106.5 Toledo

The Zone should've never been dropped from 106.5; that brand drew decent ratings given 106.5's signal limitations. Sports radio typically bills more despite the ratings. 106.5 flipped in a time period when multiple alternative and AAA stations around the country wound up flipping because the target...

Re: 106.5 Toledo

If this was 15 years, I'd say they could do a swap. Cloud gets 1520 for The Ticket, EMF takes 106.5 and puts air 1 on there. Won't happen. Right, The goal is now to exit big markets with high $$ signals. I have a theory, Could Cumulus make 106.5 a Fulton County station? Much like 98.3 is a Monroe s...

Re: 106.5 Toledo

Cumulus’ creditors are more interested in getting out of the biggest (mostly ex-ABC Radio) markets. Divesting 106.5 seems to be not as high a priority as one would have originally assumed. If it wasn’t for WNKL and WPAY, an AM station that just can’t be sold, Cumulus would have already dumped 106.5 ...

Re: Fuel FM

If there is a hell on earth - it's southeastern Ohio. Seems like an appropriate place for this pile of shit to be carried! Youngstown would beg to differ. That market has too many stations and, from what I’ve been told, none of them really make any money. And I keep thinking about how a Forever sta...

Re: How to program Wheels 106.7 by the hour

1. People want to hear the hits, and hear familiar voices play the hits. Studies have proven that time and time again. 2. No format has been tested to death moreso than AOR and the formats that followed it, including this iteration of classic rock. That's been going on since the 1970s, not 1996. 3. ...

Re: Will URban expand in Toledo?

Urban unloading is a safe bet. The problem now is... you need to find buyers for all these stations in what's basically a seller's market, not just in Toledo, but elsewhere. Maybe Adams could sniff the tires but Toledo feels like a market too big for them. Wolf Boom is strictly small market. Regardl...

Re: What’s happened to WJW-TV??

Oh, I am sure they will update sets and graphics at some point. Probably after the Nexstar/whoever ends up with them dust settles. (Does Nexstar have a chain wide graphics style?) But there's no hurry. WJW could put their news team on a barren set with hand-written graphics and still be #1. Yes the...
