All I know is Power 96 seems like a much more fun radio station than the present day WDVD (whose calls perhaps mean "We're Detroit's Venereal Disease")!
When I think of "DVD", I think more of those movies on small discs the size of CDs.

Re: No Packers on FOX UP....

I remember the short life of WMQF-19 too. They showed Lions games and half the time they couldn't get the network feed of the game to work. They had NO local presence whatsoever. Which was typical of stations owned by Equity Media Holdings, in which everything ran out of Little Rock and transmitted...

WEMU had to put a WJIM-TV/WLNS translator in Ann Arbor to get the interference population counts down.
If only to appease the station and the FCC, as Ann Arbor was within the Detroit market.

I'm surprised more hospice care facilities and funeral homes don't advertise on WJR. It's their demo.
That is the demo. Along with Geritol complete, hemorrhoid surgery done dirt cheap, and Adjustable toilets seats! :D
Reminds me of WKRP in Cincinnati before they flipped to rock in 1978.

Well, I wish one of the other stations in our DMA would pick up the Movies and CatchyComedy channels.
Would their cancellation of the licenses nullify their carriage contracts? I believe they held market-wide rights, yet they only covered just a small fraction of the market.

When locals were introduced on DirecTV in the late 1990s and early 2000s, I believe at first you had to pay extra for them.

Re: CJAM Celebrates 40 Years

About 1977, CJAM was listed in White's Radio Log on AM 660. It was not shown as a carrier current station. The article said that the station on AM was heard in its residence halls, rather than the entire campus or the surrounding area, so it's very likely was a carrier current. An over the air full...

Sounds like a rebirth of QUEST.
Quest is still around, and seen in Detroit as a sub of WADL.

Re: Sale of Windsor's CKWW in the works

There is considerable overlap of WJR 760 and WTOR 770, but it is over Canada and there isn't much WJR can do. I drove from Michigan to Toronto on a road trip in 1999, and I was able to tune in to WJR until I got into the western outskirts of the GTA, when interference began obliterating the signal....

Re: Sale of Windsor's CKWW in the works

Yeah, how did that one ever get approved? I guess because the transmitter is directed at Canada. Exactly -- WTOR's signal is directional towards Ontario from its transmitter north of Niagara Falls. When it's on the air during the day, the signal blankets the GTA and Southwestern Ontario, though beg...

There are quite a few good 60s 70s Oldies stations on the internet that are close to what you listen there for, without all the obscure CanCon.
Though on the other hand, obscure Cancon was what made stations such as CKWW interesting.

Legally, stations have up to 60 minutes to relay a statewide monthly test.
Or 24-hours later. - but that is the maximum allowed delay
Why would a station delay a test 24 hours? If it was an actual alert for, say, a tornado warning, it wouldn't do any good to delay it the next day.

Re: WBTL Ch 5 Toledo

It went off the air in 2007. The box turned into MTV2 on most cable networks. MTV2 would replace The Box on many LPTVs as well. In some areas, it would later be replaced on LPTVs with MTV Tr3s, a Spanish-flavored MTV. MTV's involvement with LPTV would fade away by the early 2000s, as the main MTV c...
