Re: Remakes you like better then original
Close to you, their first big hit, was also a cover. Richard Chamberlain (Doctor Kildare) did the song in 1962 and released on MGM records

Real Oldies is back
For those of you who may care, and I know not everybody does, but Real Oldies is back. Not on terrestrial radio but on the internet. Real Oldies Music Radio is up and running. Bob Becker is hosting the mid day shows on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am-3pm. The West Michigan top 40 countdown show will...

Re: September Ratings
Barry, if you ever sat down and talked with Greg, you'd be amazed at his depth of knowledge about radio stations, what frequencies they are on and what format they currently play and their format/call letter histories. He has a great mind for those kind of details.

Re: September Ratings
I've known Greg for over 40 years and he has never worked for Cumulus. He's worked at WGVU for the past 25 years. When it comes to radio frequencies, call letters and station formats, he probably knows more about that kind of stuff than anyone I've ever met in the business.

Re: What Covid Measures May Become Permanent?
I tell my kids that back in the day we didn't wear seatbelts. I even had a few cars that didn't have any seat belts. In a few years my kids will be saying, "I remember when people went places and didn't wear masks all the time."

Re: Detroit Tigers 1972
I remember the 1972 Tigers like it was yesterday. They coulda, shoulda, woulda won that series against the A's, but lost that game 5, 2-1 after a dramatic come from behind win in game 4 the day before. After that win, I didn't think there was any way the Tigers would lose game 5. Shows what I know. ...

Re: G.R. radio retirement
I met Pat one time several years ago. To work 36 years for one radio station is truly amazing. Congratulations Pat and enjoy your retirement.

Re: Detroit Lions 2022
Looked like the same old Lions to me. I don't know why anybody gets excited about a new season from this crappy franchise. I wish we could fire the owners.

Re: the old WJPW-AM 810
Tornado damage yes, 1956 Tornado no. It was damaged in the 1965 Palm Sunday Tornado. WJPW wasn't on the air in 1956. WJPW first went on the air from that site in 1964 from an above ground building that was there before the '65 tornado.

Re: the old WJPW-AM 810
810 is indeed still on the air from that stick on 10 mile road and is the originating signal for the 93.3 translator. In fact 810 is quite frequently on the air 24 hours a day, even though it is still licensed as a day time station.

Jack Hogan former WZZM-TV news director has passed away
Information I have received that former TV13 News Director Jack Hogan has passed away in Florida at the age of 89. Jack was with WZZM from its inception in 1962 until 1986. I never worked directly for Jack, but did get to know him quite well in the early 70s. I would also have the pleasure of workin...

Re: Smile FM buys WGVS 850
From my understanding the deal only involves the license and the transmitter. The towers are still scheduled to be torn down and the property sold to developers. Smile will have to find another tower location in the Muskegon area for their signal and go through all of the signal tests, etc. the FCC ...

Are the Whitecaps on the radio in GR
I was tuning the radio a couple of nights ago (ya I do that a lot) and was listening to AM 980 WONE from Dayton. They were airing a game between the Dayton Dragons and the West Michigan Whitecaps. Then I started thinking that I haven't heard any of the Whitecaps games on local radio at all this year...
