99.3 WQAN Signal Strength

When WQON first started simulcasting on 99.3 earlier this autumn and changed the callsign to WQAN, I thought I understood that they were in the process of improving their coverage. However, they don't seem any stronger here in East Jordan today than they were the week they first signed on. I wonder ...

Re: Old School 7&4, 29&8, WFRV/WJMN, WLUK

Yes, commercial broadcasting is about the here and now--helping our advertisers meet their present and future goals while serving the viewing and listening needs of our audiences. That said, it's also an art form, and thus it's important, instructive, and fun to study footage from days gone by. Agr...

Re: George Jonescu RIP

Wow! Too bad. I don't necessarily listen to his show too often but I do like some of CFZM's other evening programming (especially old radio shows). They come in quite reliably at my East Jordan location in the evening.

Re: FRS

Not FRS but I have used MURS. I bought and programmed some old Motorola MT1000 business-band radios since those can legally be used on MURS (minding the deviation and stability requirements of MURS, of course). Very handy for the same kinds of things; aligning antennas, toning out cables, etc. Sure,...

Re: Server move on 11/12/18 at 7:45p ET

MW, is there any chance this affects email notifications? For some reason now, the email notifications I'm subscribed to are getting caught in my Gmail spam folder every time. I never had that problem before (either before the server move or before the big crash). Probably just a Gmail thing but tho...

That is why you hear the same line up that WWJ had for mornings, midday, and afternoon drive.
So does WWJ use Radiate or did they switch to another provider? I always thought their traffic was done in-house.

Re: TV RF Channel Changes

I guess this means stations still find considerable value in their OTA signals.

Why did some TV stations move from VHF to UHF in the DTV transition?

Out of curiosity, why did some stations permanently move from VHF to UHF during the DTV transition? I don't see what the advantage is to UHF, especially in rural areas. Two examples that come to mind in northern Michigan are WPBN moving from 7 to 47 and WCML moving from 6 to 24.

Re: TV RF Channel Changes

Interesting (and thank you for listing them by RF channel; PSIPs are just annoying). I wonder if I'll be able to get WMNN in East Jordan. Also, I know the upper UHF channels were sold off and stations occupying those channels have to move. However, why is WMNN moving from 14 to 17? I don't see what ...

Re: WQON

I second that! WQON is by far my favorite rock station in the area. It sure seems that the DJs have a lot of latitude in what they play.

I know WQON doesn't always get a lot of love here because their format is so varied but that's what I like best about that station.

Re: Style Sheet comment thread

I definitely do NOT like how text renders in flat style. Prosilver text looks fine. Other than the text, flat style is great. As long as I can still set Prosilver in my control panel, I'll be happy! Here's an enlarged screenshot comparing the text with flat style vs. prosilver: https://drive.google....

Status of WSRT?

Just curious, does anyone know what the status is of 106.7 WSRT now that they are owned by Baraga Broadcasting? The last I heard, they were going to switch to Catholic programming "sometime in January of 2017" according to the latest press release I found. Today, Feb. 20th, they still have ESPN prog...
