Re: WSYM Hiring It's Own News Staff
Wow! That's coming up quick. Interesting that they're moving their evening news back to 5:30. I assume that was a good timeslot for them before, but at the time, 6 and 10 didn't have newscasts at 5:30. Now they both do, so we'll see how Fox can do when competing with the other local stations. Any ne...

Re: Fred Heumann is back, on WILX...
I caught Fred for the first time this evening. He was back in his element covering high school football. I don't think I've seen WILX put this much effort into sports in a long while. (Tim Staudt has been phoning it in with prerecorded "In My View" segments for a few years now, and they've had the n...

Re: What is wrong with WLNS?
Oh by the way WLNS began its demo of the old set today, they will get a total refresh [set, graphics, etc] When I'm in Mid-Michigan, I watch WILX for the superior on-air talent, but I wish they'd step it up in terms of visual appeal. WLNS has had better graphics than WILX for years. WILX currently us...

Re: Fred Heumann is back, on WILX...
Congrats to Fred on the new gig. He can take over once Tim retires. Many in the market have worked for both 6 and 10. All of WILX's regular evening crew has been on WLNS. David Andrews, Ann Emmerich, Tim Staudt, and Andy Provenzano were all at 6 at one point or another. Emily Wahls is also flipping...

Just came here to see if anyone reported on this. I saw it via Ann Emmerich's Facebook post:

Re: WSYM Hiring It's Own News Staff
She is currently working at WILX preparing forecasts in the morning. If you check out the Facebook live you can occasionally catch a glimpse of her in the weather center. I'm in Kalamazoo now so I don't see much of WILX anymore. Is Claire Cameron doing mornings on WILX and FOX 47 since Darrin Rockc...

Re: WSYM Hiring It's Own News Staff
Could this be where Emily Wahls (formerly of WLNS) lands? The job postings say the application deadline is December 2020 and Emily recently told someone on Twitter that she can't officially announce her new job until next year. Just a thought.

Re: Spring Arbor splits Home.FM simulcast
Four years after moving from Jackson to Portage, I discovered and programed the Kalamazoo Home.fm translator into my car radio just last week. (It's a super weak signal that barely reaches Portage.) Guess I can delete that now...

Re: Darrin Rockcole
Emily Wahls left WLNS last Friday, which means both 6 and 10 have lost their morning meteorologists within the past month. Her tweet announcing her exit: https://twitter.com/EmilyWahls/status/1298376509053382656 She said she's planning to stay in the area, but to add even more intrigue to the story,...

Re: Darrin Rockcole
I thought it seemed suspect, too. Unlike the WILX story, Darrin's Facebook post didn't use the word "retire." In reply to some comments on his post, he said that it was his decision, but considering that he also says he'll be looking for another job (not in broadcasting, according to a comment), thi...

Re: 30 Rock Special preempted
Did any of the NBC affiliates in Michigan air it? I was wondering why WILX was showing Full Court Press at 8:00 on a Thursday.

"Studio 10" Premiering in October on WILX
Two years after canceling First@4, WILX is going back to local programming at 4:00 PM. They're adding a lifestyle show hosted by Sarah Swistak (anchor of the WILX produced Fox 47 newscasts) and Stephanie McCoy from WITL. It's set to air during the 4:00PM hour beginning in October. Both of the hosts ...

Brett Collar Gone from Fox 47/WILX
WILX seems to have unceremoniously let go of Brett Collar, the weeknight meteorologist for their Fox 47 newscasts. With the COVID pandemic, they've done some shuffling with the on-air talent, so I didn't realize he was actually gone until I noticed him missing from the WILX website today. Looking at...

WILX morning anchor Barrett Tryon announced the reason for his lack of a tie lately is due to skin cancer on his neck. He announced his diagnosis yesterday on Facebook and today on air.
