Re: New Laptop

I just got an HP and I am having this issue with google Chrome, with Youtube videos freezing. I never had the problem on my Lenovo. I really didn't want an HP but that's all they had in my price range. We have a stack of HP's from the last decade. Worst junk I've ever had to touch IMO. Sad, because...

Re: Free radio automation software

Sorry, this post fell thru the cracks. FWIW, you install RadioDJ and it sets up the database file, which is populated when you import song files via the Track Manager in RDJ. You really don't have to mess with the database at utility level at all. Even backups and restores are done through the RDJ i...

1470 WFNT

Just curious how long this station has been sitting on Fox network's CUE channel?? It's been over an hour here now, mostly dead air.

I check WWV and CHU on their several frequencies to see how propagation is, simply , by checking signal strength of the stations.
I do the same thing. It's a quick check of how the bands are.

Re: WPON , Time to pull the plug.

I sincerely hope that Birach gets this thing done. Not that I'm a big fan of BBC's stations, but this has been a thorn in their side for a LOOOOOONG time now. If it were me, I'd just leave 1160 at Fenton and increase power as much as possible. I'd do whatever it took to get WPON back at 1kW omni fro...

Re: New Radio

Please let me know if you wish to thin your heard out and let go of a decent portable with SSB, like a RS DX or Sangean. Something cheap I can toss in my laptop bag.

Re: FCC Crackdown On Badly Maintained AM Facilities?

There has been a lot of snow melt, which ups the ground conductivity a bit. I used to witness that effect running AM radials this time of year.

Is there anyplace I can go to find when the DX tests are conducted and by whom ???
Same here... I would have loved to try out pulling them in. I am about to put up a good longwire to hook to my AM radios. I have my TM-152 C-QuAM radio just waiting to be hooked back up.

Re: Anyone Observe WCXI Or WPON Testing Activity?

I hear 1160 fair in Flint township on my Grundig Sat800. I wondered why I can actually hear a couple signals battle it out on 1460, well, WFNT has been sitting in dead air for the last ten minutes!! They (1470, just to be clear) just aired some kind of"relay reset" feed, "we will fire the relays in ...

Dang. I did manage to score a working RF generator on eBay, matching unit to my Heathkit o'scope. Still in bad need of an audio generator and cap bridge.

Re: The "personality" of radio stations

You know, anymore I relish the fact I can still hear a few Mom & Pop stations on the SEMI dial at all. Most aren't perfect by any means, but it sure beats listening to sat-fed, faked-local radio stations play the same songs over and over and over. At least the M&P stations tend to throw in a few sti...

Re: CK 105.5

WWCK-FM got out great in the rock era. And they had a wonderful bunch of jocks who KNEW the music. I remember driving all over this part of the state listening to Flint's Best Rock.
