Re: WYCE... future?
If you are looking for ugly towers, look no further than the one just south of the Grandville Lowe's store. It's supposed to look like a giant redwood or something. That tower is an odd sight, but maybe it's meant to not detract from Grandville HS across the street. There's another tower like that ...

Re: Herb Tarlek Has Died
In the cases of Bruce and Wolfe, they would have been 101 and 124 now, so it's not surprising. McLerie would have been 94. Bill Dial, a series producer who also played Buckey Dornster, has also passed on, as has Hugh Wilson, series creator. They were 64 and 74, respectively, when they died in 2008 a...

Re: "THE BET 1270" debuts on WXYT AM
More of a reason to not listen exclusively to one station. I'd like to think more broadly than just one format or type of music. Sports is also ok, but more the news or play-by-play than the discussion aspect, and I couldn't care less about sports gambling. I may be in the minority there, but that's...

"News/talk 810, weather and traffic on the 6s, but first, Guns N Roses" I like your examples, and this one sounds like a format idea I had years ago - Newsmetal. A marketing angle was "when you want to bang your head, but still fill it with the latest headlines" (or "bang your head-lines", if you w...

Re: "THE BET 1270" debuts on WXYT AM
I heard an AM station out in the Arizona desert that was alternating Native American chants with artists like Lynyrd Skynyrd. That's true variety - not like these "we play everything" stations that won't do just that. I'd think music could break up the sports talk, but who'd tune in for that combo? ...

If they wanted to stay close to the theme, they could be playing "Bet"te Midler, or perhaps BS&T's "Go Down Gamblin' ".Mega Hertz wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 5:05 am"Coming up on 1270 the Bet, the odds of all MLB games this weekend, but first, here's Queen!"

Re: Herb Tarlek Has Died
I once worked with a sales person who must have taken tips from Bonner's character. I'm sure I saw him in the office in plaid pants a time or two. I also recall a denim suit. That closing theme, with its' nonsense lyrics, was a great way to wrap up an episode. That song should've been extended into ...

Stelara sounds as much like a model of car as it does a pharmaceutical product.

I especially liked "Long Ago Tomorrow" and "Everybody's Out Of Town". Thomas was able to sing with little change in his voice for many years.

Those TJB albums hold up well after all these years. Alpert knew how to get the sound he wanted, and recorded it well.

WPAG Ann Arbor Pat - Andy Green ..... Green's Cleaners I recall, and Wikipedia also mentions, WPAG standing for Paul and Art Greene, who with Edward "Ted" Baughn, owned the station back in the early years. Its' successor calls included WPZA (owned by Tom Monaghan - no prize for guessing that one) a...

Re: Pre WITL Top 40 Lansing 1963 Station Survey
I'm surprised "Washington Square" by the Village Stompers wasn't anywhere in there. It was #2 in the U.S. just a week or two earlier. Incidentally, this chart was from just after the Kennedy assassination. There likely wasn't as much interest in pop music in that immediate aftermath. Also, the Sammy...

One of my favorite songs from back then.
Another Super song is "Late In The Day" by Supergrass, from 1997.
