WLEN Adrian
I've been listening a lot lately to WLEN (thinking about buying a house a bit closer to the station, although not for that reason LOL) Besides the kind of worn out intermission music, that station is pretty awesome. 1. Awesome variety of music, you can tell it's hand selected with care. Have recentl...

Re: FM power in different areas
Where the lower ERP Chicago Area FM stations fizzle out is probably determined by two factors. One is terrain and earth curvature, where you fall into a shadow. The other is the milieu of signals now on cochannel and first adjacent channels that weren't there before Docket 80-90. In Southwest Michi...

Re: FM power in different areas
Random info: I just completed a trip to chicago and back via I94 from Wayne County. Slight tropospheric enhancement. Coming back I decided to fiddle with the dial a bit (headed east). For anyone interested here are my absolutely 100% scientific observations. WKQX 101.1 - unlistenable by about MM 50 ...

Re: Last Electronics Store
Something I just learned the other day. there is a radio shack store, open and operating in Saline. Not sure what all they have in there, can't be much - but they keep the lights on. Electronics Connection would be a great place if their prices were reasonable and the staff weren't so damn cranky. P...

Re: An alternative rock station that sounds a million times better than Fault 98.7
I listened to the edge a lot when it was on 94.1, thought they had an awesome playlist. another one I really miss is buzz 106.5 .....with that deep voice voiceover guy "W-B-U-Z Delta-Toledo". Also WKRK 97.1 K-Rock. and while we're at it, Z-Rock 102.7 was cool too. also that first song in the airchec...

I'm on CB (27MHZ, "11m") often and can vouch for the 10m guys - it's been wild recently, although the last few days have been quieter.

Re: I guess local TV stations no longer broadcast weather warnings?
I honestly think the NWS and the media outlets dropped the ball. No forecast I read mentioned hail at all - even the morning of these events. I did hear on one of the media outlets I think Weds or Thurs night say they "couldn't rule out a tornado" - so I guess they were the "closest?" No watch was i...

Re: Nautel MA3 All Digital AM
On TV when two different digital broadcasts are on the same RF channel with about the same signal strength, there is no picture at all. The same would likely apply to the audio on a digital radio broadcast. Even analog to digital interference can do that. Where I live I can not hear 97.1 WXYT-FM or...

Re: AM radio sound clarity on car radios
If I were serious about listening to AM, I'd have a good ol' GM Delco radio wired up right here on my desk. Probably the best sounding AM receivers i've come across. (don't put it past me - I've often had an assortment of mobile radios in use indoors and in the garage over the years - they have incr...

Re: Nautel MA3 All Digital AM
I fell in love c-quam stereo, I loved it, AM HD, not so much AM HD in it's current incarnation (hybrid) does indeed suck. Even on FM. I find myself switching a lot to analog manually for a couple reasons 1. analog processing of the audio before it goes out digitally really makes it sound like crap....

Funny - I liked the second incarnation of the river, and found myself wanting to hear it this morning actually LOL.
Ann Arbor's 107.1 is a pretty suitable replacement. Was listening to them yesterday in Brownstown when I heard the new Depeche Mode song come on.
