Re: Then, there's this.....

She's really turned her work around! On the other hand the hot and cold timid coverage of Flint is unfortunate... Kim was always a good reporter, covering breaking crime is just a thankless job. Now that she can do her own stories instead of reacting to the scanners has shown how talented she is. T...

Re: Then, there's this.....

They let her victory lap again with a newsroom standup tonight to tell people the millage gag bill was signed. It was a great catch. She was doing a follow up story with sound from Dearborn's mayor, the story already edited and in the can when word came down around 4:15 that Snyder had in fact sign...

Re: Then, there's this.....

If it's sitting on his desk when did it get there? If it's been there awhile and they just now reported on it then that's slow... If it landed there that day and she reported on it then that's not so bad... It passed around midnight of the 16th/17th, Kim reported it on Friday the 18th when her sour...

Re: Then, there's this.....

I don't have any idea what you seem to be complaining about. Kim Russell was the first to report on this story which is actually a pretty important and potentially chilling piece of legislature that was shoe-horned in the middle of the night. It would stop every public entity from being able to comm...

Re: Then, there's this.....

The late night legislative shenanigans is what she uncovered.

Re: Then, there's this.....

Automated control room. The TD/Camera operator/Audio board and graphics person get's a little busy sometimes but think how much money they save by having 1 person do the job of 4.

Re: Then, there's this.....

Apparently be a station the network does special things for doesn't go as far as it used to
The Big 10 contract with Disney/ABC/ESPN and the NFL contract that allows the local ABC broadcast stations to poach Monday Night Football from ESPN are not the same.

Re: Then, there's this.....

A Lav would be useless in a crowded stadium, 2 mics would require a mixer and another engineer probably on overtime the whole day. The fact that 7 couldn't poach that game from ESPN is the real crime.

Re: Then, there's this.....

We don't have regular reporter/photog assignments, for a while I was working with her a lot but the spinning dart board has said otherwise of late. Working with Ronnie is usually fun so I like doing it.

Re: Then, there's this.....

On that note can we add Ronnie Dahl reporting on a broken pipe at a fire hydrant in Northwest Detroit and then racing rubber ducks (where did those come from CJ?)
I don't know I haven't worked with her in a few weeks, she has a lot of props to help her tell the story of the day in her own way.

Re: Then, there's this.....

It spilled right over into the 6 where Simon Shaykhet took over a minute to identify an Ann Arbor intersection he was reporting on.
Just in the track, every frame of video clearly showed it was that busy intersection. Odd nitpick.

Re: Then, there's this.....

Just think of how efficient a hubbed and automated system could be with competent people! It's not the automation... It's the people hired to run it. What's the point of hubbing anything if you have to hire qualified, competent people to do it. Not saying that a local master control operator hasn't...

Re: Then, there's this.....

The fun of hubbed and automated master control rooms. Just think how much EW Scripps saved per year by doing it this way!

Re: Best Sunday Morning news team?

Good News for Andy Choi, bad news for Ch 7. He was promoted to national reporter for Scripps the Now. So he will still be seen on Ch 7 at 4pm.
