Re: Old cable lineups

Quite a few recordings of the Prevue Channel from Detroit-area cable systems are available on Youtube. Here's lineups taken from these videos. Comcast Detroit proper headend, May 6, 1995 (source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewuom5pmJhs ) 2-WJBK (Fox) 3-VH1 4-WDIV (NBC) 5-WKBD (UPN) 6-L.O. (parti...

Re: Rescan TV Channel Moves in Toledo

Checking WNWO's new RF's coverage map on RabbitEars and it looks like I should probably still be able to pick it up once they move. I am just outside of their Minimum Field Strength Contour, which in the Downriver area cuts across the very northern populated tip of Grosse Ile, then through the heart...

Re: Old cable lineups

What really torqued me off was that for the first 5 seasons of Saturday Night Live, WSPD/WTVG 13 did NOT carry the NBC show at 11:30pm at all, and the ONLY way to see anything were SNL specials on at 10pm. I think it was something to do with their stupid old 'Code of Conduct' slide (SNL too risqué?...

Re: Old cable lineups

Did WXYZ pre-empt ABC programming regularly in the late 80s/early 90s? I remember about one or two short-lived shows never being cleared by WXYZ during this time. WDIV was a bit more preemption-happy, which probably explained why United used to carry WTVG in Woodhaven and Gibraltar in the 1980's. T...

Re: Network programming preemptions by individual stations

There were extreme cases though-at least in 1987, neither WDIV nor WTVG cleared Super Password . The closest affiliate that cleared it was WKYC, which was still at the time owned by NBC (and consequently also the closest American network-owned station, as WXYZ had just been sold to Scripps at the s...

2018-2019 TV Season

Another thread lost to the collapse.

Of the new shows that debuted this season, I'm enjoying Magnum PI, The Conners, New Amsterdam and Murphy Brown. I did try a couple others, but they did not score watchability for me.

Re: LMFAO at Kmart!!!!

Unfortunately, lost in the collapse was news of Sears ultimately declaring bankruptcy on October 15 and the resulting and expected store slashing. In Michigan, Sears stores in Ann Arbor and Lincoln Park and Kmart stores in Charlevoix and Lake Orion are getting axed. I discussed potential replacement...

Re: 2018 Tropos

I'll just repost all of my tropo catches since June 2018. FM side: WENZ 107.9 from Cleveland was coming in several times during the early summer. On the TV side: WEWS and WKYC were of course common from Cleveland. I snagged WSYX Columbus on August 23 and as of late I've been picking up semi-locals W...

Furthest points Detroit stations were historically carried

Reconstruction of a thread of the same name by Splouge that was lost in yesterday's collapse, using as much as I can pick up from the Wayback Machine. Here's the original post as archived from the Wayback Machine: I'd like to know the furthest south, north, west, and east points where Detroit statio...

I managed to find a Wayback Machine backup of this site from August, hopefully it works completely.

Re: Old cable lineups

Since this thread has gotten much popular, I'll just repost this. The original post to this was lost in today's data purge. Fortunately, it was cross-posted by someone else onto Radio Discussions. Here's an early-90's Detroit-area vintage cable lineup for you to drool over. Originally taken from a s...

Re: Then, there's this.....

Jumping on the bandwagon is Fox Sports Detroit, during the shootout in today's Wings-Capitals matchup where we won our first in six games and gave them their first loss in seven, the graphic when the third Wing player came to start the third round (forgot who he was) said that in shootouts at least ...

Did they ever forget to drop the Detroit-specific ads to show those intended for the northern Michigan market?

Re: Switching to/from another station's signal for network s

I just realized another example of this. When WUHQ (now WOTV) Grand Rapids first signed on in 1971, it couldn't afford a direct feed from ABC, so whenever they would show ABC programming, engineers had to switch to and from WZZM's signal, though this proved to be less than satisfactory as WZZM often...
