Have you ever been to St Lorenz church? It can hold about 1,500 people. There's no need for a "larger place".
No, just generalizing church capacity. But I did look it up after. That is a very large space.

Re: Dorothy Zehnder dies

She was our across the street neighbor in Frankenmuth from before I was born, until I moved away at age 21. I'm going to her funeral Friday. She and her daughter Judy was at my mom's funeral in 2010. She had a good, long life. RIP Her funeral at St Lorenz church was packed. Afterwards, we all went ...

Re: WJML "AM 11" heard last night

They tore the front lean to off a couple years ago, leaving the transmitter and antenna equipment for 750 and 1110. Not sure what got thrown out, though Del was a big fan of the station and might have rescued them. They would still have to have some kind of simple studios there. I thought Del retir...

If the EAS was triggered and aired then the obligation you talk about was covered. W hie I agree they should be doing lots more, that is legally all they have to do so no fines.
Unless the Part 11 rules changed, weather alerts are not mandatory for EAS

Re: Mackinaw City FM has just been sold

94.5 WYPV reportedly has been sold to Billy Sours (who just sold WBZV in the Hillsdale - Adrian area) for $140,000. He has applied to change calls to either WBSX or WSBX; I cannot recall which. I believe this station was previously relaying Q100 from Grayling. It is possible this station will retur...

Re: Clio NOT Cleo

I mentioned once in another thread I remember Mark Watkins at 7&4 learning correct pronunciation during the commercial breaks his first week. He'd do the initial forecast, butcher two or three towns, then apologize after the break.

Re: Look at all the FCC silent notifications in N. Michigan...

Someone should notify the folks over at Black Diamond Broadcasting of this.95.1 95.3 and 98.1 have been airing an open carrier for at least the last four hours. I'd like to say I'm surprised. But I can't. Seems almost everyone is airing open carriers now for one reason or another. I think most of t...

A bit off topic, but a short while ago. in about the same place I seen a Black Bear crossing the highway,I saw a mama duck crossing with her ducklings.Cars were stopping to let them by.How so very cute. There is one specific spot of road where the ducks cross in Saginaw. A couple years ago they put ...

Re: Local news expansion

Many people who watch local news have been watching the same station for news for 30 or 40 years. In terms of OTA PSIP channel identification, the physical RF channel or former analog channel can be used. In terms of channel number references used in video graphics and on-air branding produced by t...

Re: Gaylord tornado 1 year later

The scars were still very much evident when I went up in February. You could easily trace the path of where the twister went through the city. My uncle lives near Johannesburg and the tornado went well north of there, so fortunately he wasn't affected. He didn't even lose power. My grandparents hav...

Re: Sinclair called out

Sinclair’s contention that the National Desk broadcasts are a suitable replacement for local newscasts is flat out lying. If there is a major storm, a local election, a scandal at city hall, another Flint Water Crisis, etc. Sinclair will have no local journalists in these markets. You can’t cover n...

I don't know, MasterB. The FCC isn't exactly fond of Sinclair, from a few things I've read over the past five or so years

Re: More layoffs going down at Sinclair Stations including Flint

And I'm going the chorus and saying that sadly WEYI/WSMH will be next on the hit list with either their newscast farmed out to K-ZOO or totally replaced by TND. the same fate will be hitting WGTU/WGTQ with them doing TND . But,a question arises, is iit just me, or is Sinclair hitting the small stat...
