Re: Reality And Dreams On A Fluffy Cumulus Cloud

The old WPAG site was on the south side of I-94 near the Ann Arbor-Saline Rd exit. It wasn't far from where the Meijer was built. That is near Briarwood, but the Ann Arborians would probably split hairs on that. I'm imagining WPAG at 50k, and some of the formats they had might have not sounded so av...

Re: Matt Shepard as the new Tiger play-by-play TV voice..

I worked with Matt briefly in college radio. His enthusiasm stood out to me then, and I've enjoyed his work of late, including the sub work on the Tigers broadcasts. I'm looking forward to his broadcasts this season, even with the prospect of another year of the great rebuild. Congratulations are in...

Re: Misheard Song Lyrics

"I'd Really Love To See You Tonight" was the subject of callers to WJR back when the song was popular, and the consensus then was "I'm not talkin' 'bout millennium". It makes some sense, but not very much. "Bad Blood" got some questions on WJR as well, but the dj in question got past the line "the b...

Re: New Music for Old Folks

Death Cab For Cutie took its' name, btw, from a Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band song. That band performed their song in a scene from the 1967 Beatles movie Magical Mystery Tour, a film conceived in part and co-starring...Paul McCartney, who's also mentioned elsewhere in this thread. Yes, Paul has had many so...

Re: Worst Christmas Songs on the Radio

I remember being highly disappointed in first hearing "Wonderful Christmastime", in that this guy was once in The Beatles, and he was capable of so much more. Over the years, however, I got used to it, and grew to appreciate the simple sentiment his song expressed, albeit in a less-than-stellar arra...

Re: New Music for Old Folks

We're experiencing a disconnect between the reference to Paul McCartney's "New" album from 2013, and what I assume is a reference to his new album, "Egypt Station", from 2018. So, his old album is his "New" album, and his new album isn't "New". I'll cede the discussion to Messrs. Abbott & Costello a...

Re: Smirk Jacobson is back, and he’s a high roller!

He's betting there are people interested. Odds are, his audience is on the casino floor already. How many ways can one make this "Casino News" story fresh? Time may tell. It's a gamble he felt was worth taking, this Vegas stint - that he's all in. I'd wager he's not humming the ABC 12/syndicated jin...

Re: JIM PRICE STINKS!!!

There's even a pic of Jim playing the trumpet in the booklet with "Exile...."

That's the best laugh I've had in a day or two - great!

Re: JIM PRICE STINKS!!!

Jim doesn't inspire that kind of devotion, obviously. He's just who he is, and although it can get quite repetitive, he's like a family uncle who visits occasionally and talks baseball. Sort of like Paul Woods and the Red Wings. Beats the continual 24/7 political spin available so many places now. I...
