Spooky Story About ARP In Owosso

50 records appeared in a box on the commenter's porch on the night prior to the fire that destroyed the American Record Pressing Plant in 1972. The plant pressed the first Beatles records in America in 1963. "Please Please Me" had the group's name misspelled Beattles. But Dick Biondi played it anywa...

Re: The atrocity known as AM HD radio

I've tried to make sense of the difference between the WFDF and WWJ signals for the last 14 years almost. On the one hand, the locations of each TL make a big difference in the radiation roughly in the direction of the Oakland Macomb border and Eastward. Woof Doof (an insider semi official moniker a...

That Wausau inversion used to bring a lot of those into Southeast Michigan, later in the Summer, quite frequently.

Re: Has WCXI 1160 moved to Milford Twp?

My experience is that it was coming in better from Fenton after they apparently fixed the transmitter, for a while. The good news is that they could probably use 50000 watts from the new site. The bad news is, it still won't get out that well. Reminds me of WIVK 850 Knoxville. The Class IVs came in ...

Re: Grand Funk Railroad "1976"

Like thousands of other popular songs, the lyrics are at least partly autobiographical, especially the line, "Don't let them tell you that I'm not your kind.", which rings true, as something Sally's Hollywood associates probably were telling Sally about Mark, along with an "heiress". who was once my...

Re: SHortwave pirate stations

I think there is a lot of Pirate activity on Holiday Weekends. Federal workers tend to not work those. There's a case online where Mr. Ehret tried to get paid for overtime and they threw it out. Don't know what effect that would have in motivating them to enforce rules during overtime if they didn't...

Re: Lima's 940 WCIT Drops Sports

They only have to protect 1570 to the Mexican border though. There never was much skywave from it in Michigan. Probably because it rarely ran anywhere near full power. In the old days, stations on Canadian Class I-As for the most part had to be protected with no more than 5 microvolts per meter Grou...

Re: SHortwave pirate stations

Irby Tallant and DeWayne Ehret have both passed away, I am sorry to report. I just have to wonder how much enforcement there is anymore, unless somebody "rats you out". Not that there are not a lot of rats to do it...

Re: UMG Fire

Found a closed group in the UK that says no Four Seasons Masters were lost, but if they were unmarked and not cataloged, how would they know? If it is just based on this list, somehow it must be the company line. Can we believe it?

Re: UMG Fire

A few years ago, the Chameleon Four Seasons Fan Club in the UK wanted to look for the allegedly "misplaced or not cataloged" Motown Masters from when they were with Motown/Mowest in 1971-1974. They wanted to rerelease and release unreleased materials. They offered to extensively research and look th...

Re: Lima's 940 WCIT Drops Sports

They still have to protect the vacant 940 allotment in Montreal. It might be a slightly smaller area to protect, because CINW used shorter antennas. No protection is needed for their signal outside of Canada though. And WWJ I believe.
