Re: Best Detroit stations of all time

I'd be happy to return to the 80s, with full-time classical music on WQRS, great talk radio on 1270 with David Newman and Mark Scott, nearly everything on WJR (Tigers, J.P., Mike Whorf, Jay Roberts, Sketches and Comments), Famous Coachman putting me to bed every Saturday night on WDET, Dick Purtan i...

Re: Radio And the year you Graduated.

On a similar note, I recently created a playlist of music from my senior year of high school (76-77). It's amazing how much the music takes you back. The playlist includes music from: Songs in the Key of Life, Steve Wonder New World Record, ELO Leftoverture, Kansas Day at the Races, Queen Hotel Cali...

Re: Radio And the year you Graduated.

I graduated in 1977 in Indiana listening to a fairly good FM rock station (WNAP). A month after graduation, my family moved to Michigan and I discovered what rock radio could really sound like as I discovered WABX, WWWW, and WRIF.

Re: 98.7 The Breeze (Soft AC) is here!

As much as I like 98.7, at times it feels like they should change their call letters to WBLD, for weepy ballads. WBLD is licensed to the West Bloomfield School District, so maybe...

Re: Mike Valenti - We get it

Tried listening to show today, we get it, don't need the constant reminder (the venting and rage on the local teams to create material for the show/ or the new podcast) or reading texts to create the rage Local teams stink right now, we know If they win or lose, same constant reminder I remember Da...

Re: Ron Cameron vs. Anthony Fenech ?

I haven’t heard the podcast from yesterday’s show (posting of Ron’s WDTK shows has been spotty lately), but one thing I do know: if you stiff Ron, he absolutely SHREDS both the show producer that day (“Call him back!!! Leave a voice mail!!!) and THEN the guest that blew him off gets mercilessly ske...

Re: 98.7 Song Requests

I’ve always believed and maybe because it’s my growing up years but the 70’s were the greatest decade for music but than again that my opinion ,I’m not saying 60’s were bad they were great and I love the New Wave 80’s as well I remember listening to WLBS 102.7 during the New Wave craze and to New M...

Re: All Christmas Music

They seem to playing more remakes than the original songs, like:

This Christmas
Happy Christmas (War is Over)
Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree

I also haven't heard Bing Crosby's White Christmas yet—is that a song that they reserve for after Thanksgiving?

Re: You only have yourself to blame if...

Who the hell is Ron Cameron??? A sports talk show host who's been on and off the air for about 40 years in the Detroit area. He has an independent and unpredictable style that draws a lot of strong reactions. I like him but I admit he's an acquired taste. He also has this compulsive need to open re...

98.7 Song Requests

(I know there's a 98.7 thread going, but in a lot of different and interesting directions...trying for something more focused here) Songs I'd like to hear on 98.7 (that I haven't heard on the radio for awhile): Paul McCartney - My Love, With a Little Luck, No More Lonely Nights Atlantic Starr - Alwa...

Re: Whats Going On with WCSX?

60s and early 70's music is becoming too "old" and Advertisers target younger people (makes zero sense but whatever). 10 years ago they were playing 60s and 70s, so now they are doing 70s and 80s. Same with WOMC. A similar thing has been happening at the Redford Theatre. They're showing more and mo...

Probably be something announced between the winter meetings (12/9-12/13) and the Tigers' winter caravan (late January). I would guess in early January after the holidays.

Re: 98.7 The Breeze (Soft AC) is here!

When they start playing commercials, they should play nothing but music between 5:20 and 5:30 p.m. each weekday. WCSX, WNIC, and WOMC all seem to play nothing but commercials at that time.

Re: You only have yourself to blame if...

You expect Jay Towers to get through playing the first Christmas song of the season without incident, but watch him fumble around the board like he’s three years old trying to fly a plane. I will NEVER understand Jay's appeal or longevity in this market. He must have incriminating photos of many br...

The weather changes dramatically and you get some moron with nothing better to say than “Derp, it IS Michigan!”

Then there's those scintillating, insightful overpass shots of snow falling on a reporter who has just discovered that it snows in the winter in Michigan.
