Re: Speaking Of Strongest Signals-Just Logged WA1HLR

I remember hearing him many years ago. He had a booming signal.

I don't listen to 75m much, since we got a PDP display in 2008, wiping out reception anytime the wife is home.

Re: Just remember...

In the 1950s, meteorological scientists, using analog computers, solidly showed that any attempt to forecast beyond 42 hours is futile.

Lookup the "Butterfly Effect".

Re: WFHD-LP

Notes WMNT-CD got a big upgrade a year or two ago. Still the maximum 15kW, though now at a far higher antenna height. Question about Channel 4 being reserved for wireless microphones: Is this to say that the frequency band is "reserved" by the sports operation in Detroit, or has 66-72 MHz been reall...

Re: WFHD-LP

there's no way the FCC would allow them to use UHF 18... it's too shortspaced to WDTJ-LD in Toledo (also on 18). 30 *might* be doable if they're directional away from Leamington to protect CFTV-DT... Not so sure. For years, Toledo and Detroit both had stations on Channel 66. Then, there was also W3...

Re: Retro TV WHNE

Winegard sells an antenna designed for triband reception in urban areas. It comes in the form of a traditional metal antenna with a short boom. In its standard configuration, it is a VHF-High/UHF antenna, but the package includes extender rods which provides Low-VHF capability (probably functioning ...

Re: Retro TV WHNE

The only antenna on the Menards website that looks like it would work for WHNE 3 is the Top Of The Line Low VHF/High VHF/UHF. The next "best" I saw for Channel 3 is similar to the antenna on the WHNE Facebook Page or website that is Xed out and says "Bad". It looks to me like that small antenna may...

Do you know where we can buy a low vhf antenna these days? They are all discontinued.
Menards. They have a triband antenna with the RCA brand.

Re: Scanners

Good question, do any of the fast food drive throughs still have analog duplex communication? Is so, narrow band, unless they are on low band, then they can have nice audio on the older wider band narrow band, like McD did in the 1980's on 35MHz. I don't know about nowadays, but when I lived on the...

Yet, we don't really know if these people died actually of covid-19, or had other issues in conjunction with the virus.
If you have a deceased 14-year-old female nonsmoker cold dead with lungs full of blood, it's likely Covid.

Re: Old School Local TV Megathread

Nice catch! The 29&8 logo that briefly appears in the lower right corner at 18:46 was their in-program ID. They would black out the video behind it and display it whenever the WJRT-12 in-program ID aired. Often, there was a bit of a lag...just as there was when 7&4 took its network feed from WNEM, ...

Re: Channel-Sharing, Canadian Style

I wish the CRTC would treat subchannels as if they were part of the primary station. I would really like to see some Canadian diginets! Maybe CBC could have a Canadian reruns diginet (akin to Me TV, but Canadian). And maybe we could enjoy some SCTV (take off hoser!) Alas, Canadian cord cutters have...

The governor just said we can get out and exercise: walking, biking, canoeing, etc. just stay 6' feet apart.

What's wrong with golfing again?
People will be touching other people's balls!

Governor Whitmer said just that, on WWJ.

Gave me a much-needed chuckle moment 😃

Changing the subject, when is WUPW going to change their RF frequency and WMNT FIX their damn incorrect station pointers?
I still say that My 48 should be given virtual channel 58, allowing people to press 58, and getting WMNT, not even knowing if they're on antenna or cable.

Re: y'think this might be true? (AM DX)

I've often wondered if the reason why all these interfering stations on AM (including IBOC sidebands), FM (including IBOC sidebands), and TV (UHF and digital cliff limitations) are to limit service areas to a very short distance, to prevent people from knowing about chaotic events happening in neig...
