WWJ/WKBD launches news operation

CBS has finally realized there is enough room for competition in the Detroit market and is building a TV news operation for WWJ/WKBD. CBS will launch morning, 6 PM and 11 PM newscasts on WWJ and a morning newscast extension and 10 PM newscast on WKBD.

Re: Breaking: Nexstar reaches agreement to purchase Tribune

Jackson County really is the only region where there was a substantial OTA coverage gap. With an outdoor antenna in Jackson, I suspect one or more ABC affiliates could still be received (albeit with some snow). Lansing is only 43 miles from the WJRT TX site, which is 12 miles closer than Muskegon i...

I could already tell that this was going to happen, make-goods for all those local advertisers who got preempted by tornado warning coverage earlier this month.

Re: Most distant AM/FM/TV signal you ever tuned in?

I think there are 9 towers left for 1500, It’s been a while since I’ve seen them. Also I remember being able to see WKNR’s towers from a distance at night and not being able to receive Keener 13 at all in the nighttime. And I can’t forget WJR’s one tower from Riverview, I was able to see that one a...

]WADL (Independent 38 Mount Clemens) 6 AM: America's Clown 6:30: Sonshinny Day Does anyone out there know what exactly was America's Clown? It sound like a clown who was big in the 70's or 80's who has just stayed around too long, (maybe a little like Krusty.) Probably, from all of what I know, jus...

Re: TV Guide

They discontinued the regional editions in 2005, in favor of the national listings. I gave up on TVG in 2004 when they began to mess with the listings format. And I have yet to even handle a TVG since its 2005 revamp. The last couple of times that I bought a TV magazine of any kind was in 2011 (whe...

Detroit OTA schedule for 7/1/1995

Source: Detroit Free Press, July 1, 1995 (the pages I needed happened to be free to view on newspapers.com because someone made clippings of the schedules on those pages) This is in the midst of a weird hybrid moment in Detroit TV history - WJBK, WXON, WKBD and WGPR were each getting used to their r...

Most distant AM/FM/TV signal you ever tuned in?

Another pre-crash thread recreation. As in the old thread, list the most distant AM, FM and TV signal you've ever tuned in. From my current memory, all from my current house in Wyandotte using respective indoor receivers for each medium: AM: probably one of the east coast clear-channel stations. FM:...

Solid job in their latest victory against a weak Suns. Our #6 seed lead has gotten better and thanks to a Lakers loss, they have been eliminated from playoff contention so we shall not need to worry about them.

Re: Network programming preemptions by individual stations

Yeah, I'm sure it upset some people. Really hoping the FCC does away with these network non-duplication/syndicated exclusivity rules, soon! I'm hoping they do too, even though they've been saying they're doing away with those rules since like...2015?, and even if the Cable Reform Act of 1996 still ...

Re: Network programming preemptions by individual stations

Yes it was. The cable channel which usually shows WDIV, showed two infomercials that were obviously not WDIV's. No Michigan lottery results were shown on this channel, either. That alone ought to piss off a lot of fans of the two shows in Buckeye's service area. I couldn't check if Syndex was impos...

What these commenters should do is get real. Has 106.7 deleted any of those comments yet?

Doubt it, guess we'll find out tonight. Fortunately, I found a way around it, using Hulu.
Was Syndex imposed on WDIV on Buckeye last night in the 7 PM hour?

Re: Network programming preemptions by individual stations

Wondering if any of those stations will move Wheel and Jeopardy to a subchannel. Can't watch them on WDIV in the Toledo area because WTOL has asserted Synd-Ex rights, so Buckeye Broadband blocks WDIV in Toledo during those shows. Checking Zap2It quick, WTOL so far isn't appearing to air tomorrow's/...
