Re: 97.1

Upon further thought, it wouldn't surprise me if Ilitch Holdings works out a deal with Entercom to extend and modify the existing deal for 12 months (on terms much cheaper for Entercom). I am hard pressed to see any radio company coughing up enough cash to entice Ilitch to change horses given the c...

Re: 97.1

Most vacation time was taken in August, just before training camps started up, IIRC.

I saw the post about a potential HIRE? Are they in the position to be hiring?

Re: 97.1

Oh how the mighty have fallen... I disagree with you there. I think that station has handled this whole pandemic situation very very well. Can't be easy with no current sports going on. It's not the station, it's the station owner. Never underestimate Entercom's ability to fuck up something good. Y...

Re: 97.1

Yesterday afternoon, the station was airing an Ernie Harwell-era broadcast from the 80's with horrendously poor audio quality. Swear I thought it was a game from the early 60s! Where in the hell did they pull that audio from!? I have cassettes from that era that probably sounded better than that. P...

Re: 97.1

Funny you mention that. I haven't been doing much weekend listening lately, but no, I haven't heard Leach in quite a while. Riger is now paired with Wojo in early evenings.

Speaking of, how much does it suck to get preempted by a Tigers game from 2009?

Re: 97.1

I hate to see folks lose their jobs, but if I had to pick, I'd say Jamie, Gator and Caputo are probably the ones to keep an eye on. Stoney with his palacial Wesf Bloomfield home and two daughters in college...yeech. Any chance they try to renegotiate Valenti's contract? Because we know he ain't goin...

Traverse City has a more than a few personalities in TV and Radio who could be in much larger areas. Carrie Carlson was at WCSX in Detroit during the launch of the format and chose here because it's an awesome place.

Re: Cuts at Beasley Detroit

MW- We all knew that as long as Greater Media held the keys, WRIF would always be rock and WCSX would always be classic rock. But the way the two stations have been ran since the takeover, mixed with the current economic climate, do you think there's any chance in hell there'd be any kind of wholesa...

Re: 97.1

I mean, come on...how much revenue can truly be pulled from Tiger repeats from 2011 and what not? It's a common fact that Detroiters are extreme provincial, so I seriously doubt a handful of NBA games (in a town where NBA is a distant 4th) is gonna be enough to get the cash registers rolling again. ...
