Re: What does it take to get banned from this board?

I've been a member of this board going back to a different screen name in 2008, and was a lurker from 2006. What I really miss is the great discussions and topics there used to be here. I'd find things out here before they happened in the building. If a GM had so as much as a bad case of gas, we'd h...

Re: Shocker - Jerry Tarrants exits Beasley

Fuck me running.

My neighbor's cat could run CSX and it would be #1. And the cat has been dead for 3 years. Brand, name recognition...it counts for a lot. I just can't do Cinderella ballads and Great White all the time. Sorry.

Re: 106.7 WLLZ: Detroit's Wheels (Classic Rock) is here

Riff does tend to go a little deeper with that album. It's not too uncommon to hear that or My Michelle, though Rocket Queen would be a nice touch. GNR spins on rock radio would be an interesting discussion...if it was 1988. Alas, here we are. I'm gonna have to give the nod to WRIF these days. Their...

Re: 106.7 WLLZ: Detroit's Wheels (Classic Rock) is here

I think there might be an issue. Bohemian Rhapsody was kind of fuzzy in Saline the other day, but Bohemian Rhapsody was clear as a bell once I got back through Novi.

Re: 106.7 WLLZ: Detroit's Wheels (Classic Rock) is here

A thought did occur to me about this today. When WAS the last time a new Active/Contemporary rock station started up here? I don't mean shit like Alt 106.7, either. Something akin to WRIF. Was it K-Rock, over 20 years ago? I guess it amazes me that "Detroit Rock City" and WRIF's respectable ratings...

Re: 106.7 WLLZ: Detroit's Wheels (Classic Rock) is here

God, I am sick and tired of hearing about stale music. The average radio listener wants to hear songs that they recognize. Back in the heyday of Top 40, some songs were on a 1 1/2 to 2 hour rotation. You folks would be sticking an ice pick in your ear. No programmer worth a damn would program a bun...

Re: 106.7 WLLZ: Detroit's Wheels (Classic Rock) is here

The irony is, WRIF seems to have really stepped up their 90s and beyond rock titles. Sure, you'll still hear (Roth era) VH, Crue, Def Leppard, but the 90s gold selections have really increased and as far as I can tell, they are even more active then before. There is a giant gap LLZ could be filling ...

Re: 106.7 WLLZ: Detroit's Wheels (Classic Rock) is here

I heard Heartbreaker by Pat Benatar today. Not a bad song, but not right for the format. Leave that to CSX. Replace that with Stinkfist by Tool. If WLLZ's target was WRIF, that strategy would make sense, but the target is WCSX. When the original WLLZ appeared on scene, 1980-81, they had H*** female...

Re: 106.7 WLLZ: Detroit's Wheels (Classic Rock) is here

Bryce, I have to admit that I'm shocked. I didn't realize you liked ANYTHING progressive ;) Hey every so often I get tired of Bing Crosby and Eddie Albert and take a walk on the wild side. Ooops, hope I don't get sued by Lou Reed's estate. Speaking of Lou Reed, believe it or not, I really like the ...

Re: 106.7 WLLZ: Detroit's Wheels (Classic Rock) is here

Side note: This isn't a bitch at WLLZ, maybe more for WCSX (or the format in general), but after going through my albums tonight, it seemed to me that I haven't heard much in the way of progressive rock around much the last few years. Emerson, Lake and Palmer used to be a mainstay on CSX, stuff lik...

Re: 106.7 WLLZ: Detroit's Wheels (Classic Rock) is here

I dont really listen too much anymore. Are they still trying to say that theyre "The new generation of classic rock!" and then play "Bohemian Rhapsody? Yep. Green Day to Journey segues. Bad Company to Beastie Boys segues. Setting your watch to Bohemian Rhapsody. Oh well. Should have known better. A...
