cd to cassette recorder combo

I bought one in the 1990's. It crapped out and cannot be fixed. I've bought two portables this year, and they are horrid! Automatic level control chops/cut off first notes, etc. Is there a unit out there that doesn't clip things or doesn't use the automatic level "feature?" I know they want to make ...

Re: writing to radio/TV stations

I belong to a few dx clubs. I know a few years ago there was a letter concerning (in the bulletin) people who "demanded" a QSL card. The author, rightfully so, said how saddened he was by the behavior of some. I guess I am from a different generation. Please and thank you can take you pretty far in ...

Re: writing to radio/TV stations

Thank you all for honest answers. I guess it's like being in line at a store. It's a crap shoot. Good, bad, etc. Again, thanks!

writing to radio/TV stations

I'm a dx'er and not in nor have ever been in radio. Here's the question. I'll write for a QSL, sometimes in including a clip. No response. Will write asking on a stations' format or other question pertaining to a station feature. Nothing. Have written to two UP TV stations which, despite public pers...

Re: 97.7 WNOM Ludington

Looked at http://www.w9wi.com/web/fm-channels/242.html and it says.... Ludington, MI WNOM 3,400 3,400 93 0 43-55-01N 086-26-12W CP MOD FM E:hot adcon So this has moved from the above 97.7. Too, the format goes from Classic Hits to Hot Ad Con. A 102.7 simulcast for WMOM and WNOM ? Just so folks are a...

Re: Happy New Year, Everyone

Happy New Year TT, all. To TT, thank you so much for help on going around Lake Superior! I'm a dx'er (AM FM) and in the 60's and 70's, 740 WBAM (Montgomery,AL) used to run dx tests on New Years Eve/Night. Was fun as they would read off calls from around the country. Days gone by. So, went to Mass at...

Re: FCC call letter question on implementation

The two I was thinking of was 92.3 in Fort Wayne which is not using the calls yet, but I guess the beginning of the year. 1650 in Fort Smith, AR, was KHYN, then WFSM I believe and now it's another. The WFSM was never used, and the second set was not used for three weeks or so. Thank you for a straig...

FCC call letter question on implementation

I've been a dx'er for a long, long time.

Have seen where call letters were requested, never used, parked or used maybe a week/month after assigned.

What is the exact rule, if any, on when call letters can/must be used.

Thank you!

I'll be in UP Tuesday (12-15) and will check it out.

Re: 98.7 Escanaba

http://www.northpine.com/broadcast/mi/radio.html shows it's owned by Great Lakes Radio.

Used to be a translator for WPFF. Transaction in Dec 2014. I'm thinking when WPFF went to Air1/KLove, this didn't.

Re: 98.7 Escanaba

The story was done from Great Lakes Radio studios. Yes. My guess is it will simulcast QXO on 98.7 in Escanaba as does 97.5 in Marquette. I'll take a drive out there today to see for sure.
