Re: Fixed antenna for CICO & CBET

Although much advice has been offered about a specific antenna to investigate for use as a fixed position antenna to receive CBET-9 (RF9) and CICO-32 (RF19), I will offer another recommendation. Consider a somewhat longer antenna with likely more gain and tighter pattern, made by WINEGARD: HD7694P P...

Re: Fixed antenna for CICO & CBET

The notion of antenna gain is due to entirely PASSIVE action, not to any sort of electrical amplification. All antenna gain occurs by distortion of the radiation pattern into a single main lobe in one particular direction at the expense of significant reduction of radiation in all other directions. ...

Re: Fixed antenna for CICO & CBET

They actually did come up with antennas that were Log Periodic, V Shaped Log Periodic, and combined design Log Periodics with High VHF directors to increase the gain and improve the pattern, that were close to the performance of the "713" designs... I am not familiar with "they" or the specificatio...

Re: Fixed antenna for CICO & CBET

Consider this antenna: https://www.dennysantennaservice.net/ez-hd-antenna.html It is made by Winegard in Iowa. The vendor is in Michigan. No Chinese junk or overseas e-trailers. The antenna is well made and thoroughly tested. If room permits, this larger antenna should be a sure bet to get the stati...

Re: Fixed antenna for CICO & CBET

The wrong picture is often used with advertising for the RCA antenna. Ask for the shipping box dimensions. The smaller antenna box has the wrong picture on the box. Read the thread I mentioned earlier and look at the photo of the two boxes.

Re: Fixed antenna for CICO & CBET

The proposed antenna being sold under the RCA branding is discussed in detail in a thread at https://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=16264 The thread also discusses some misleading practices in selling this antenna. The short version: there are two different antennas. The original is longer and wo...

Re: Fixed antenna for CICO & CBET

Re getting CICO-32 on RF 19: I think your biggest problem will be adjacent channel WTVS on RF20. The WTVS transmitter is located roughly north of 8-Mile and east of Coolidge. Their signal is 345 kW erp. And you are likely much closer to them than you are to CICO-32 CICO-32 on RF 19 is only 14.2 kW e...

Re: DIY antenna designs for attic?

The home-brew yagi shown above as " modified version " appears to have a 300-to-75-Ohm balun at the feed point. Is that correct? If so, the feed point impedance of a yagi with a split dipole element is usually very low, often 50-Ohms or less. Yes, there is a balun there and that confused me too. I ...

...no [difficulty] getting TVO over the last month...I am using a 8 bay antenna 35 feet up... Thanks for the signal report. You have a much better antenna and much higher mounting. I may need a bigger UHF antenna to get CICO-32 19.1. ...the DVR+ doesn't play nice with two stations using the same ch...

Re: Audio Troubles With The Big Circle

I noticed that same audio problem on WXYZ-TV 7 today around noon. Many years ago when NBC switched to stereo audio from old NTSC mono, on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno they made a big deal about it, announcing the change over to stereo as occurring live, and with a countdown. When the change occurr...

Re: CICO on 19.1

Thanks for the replies, but I don't think any of them contained a first-person signal report of reception in the last day or two. I am familiar with the transmitter location for CIC0-32 19.1. The RABBITEARS.INFO website it shows CICO and CBET-9 are at the same location. In my former location (which ...

CICO on 19.1

I need a signal report for CICO-32 on 19.1.

I moved recently and just got up a new antenna. I don’t see a trace of CICO on 19.1 now. Are they on the air?

Re: RePack Phase 8 started

I'm not having any [problem] picking up WDIV from their temp antenna... A TV station's auxiliary antenna is not a temporary structure. Auxiliary antennas will be there for a long time. Stations often have to switch to their auxiliary antenna in order to allow work to be done on the top of the tower...

Re: RePack Phase 8 started

Re WDIV on new Channel 32: At the moment WDIV are transmitting at 1-MegaWatt ERP from 840-feet using their auxiliary side mount antenna. That is really quite a lot of power and elevation, so the reception should not be horribly down from their expected signal when they move to their top-mount antenn...
