Re: Local 4 buyout packages
That's why the stations/media companies put those ridiculously long non-compete clauses in their talent contracts. They absolutely hate the free market when it comes to paying their employees.

Re: Local 4 buyout packages
Update to the Jessica Dupnack story. Fox 2 was able to dig deep and counter 4s offer after all so she will remain with Fox 2.

Re: Local 4 buyout packages
Two new developments to the story, Devin is not taking the buyout. And 4 poached Jessica Dupnack from Fox 2. Clearly Local 4 is clearing cap-space and trying to get younger and cheaper because they will be attempting to fill most of the positions with new talent above and below the line. Will WDIV i...

Re: Local 4 buyout packages
The decision to take the buyout is a very personal one, it depends on a multiple of factors that include how close to 65 you are if not over, what any other job prospects you might have, how much time is left on your contract and would you be renewed if you stayed, how much do you have in your perso...

Local 4 buyout packages
Hearing on the street, WDIV has offered incredible buyout packages to employees with 25 years service and are 55 and over. 18 months pay plus extended benefit packages including a year of health insurance. A lot of familiar talent and key below the line people are taking it, deadline I hear is Friday.

So which one of you haters tried to break into Fox 2 this morning to try and "talk" to Ryan this morning?

Re: Nexstar's CWNetwork looking for a new detroit home as Scripps pulls affiliation from its stations
The last 3 Wings games that aired on TV-20 did very well, with good ratings for the broadcast as well as the pre and post game shows produced by 7's Sports department. I see expansion of this next season, if the Pistons can ever return to relevance, then it could be a win win win for the teams, Ball...

Re: Another leaving WXYZ
When I was hired, Grace Gillcrest was in on my interview process and in fact for every TV station I've worked for I met the GM before I was hired.

Re: Bally Sports May Lose TV Rights to MLB Next Week
Starting April 1st, TV20 wil begin simulcasting some of Bally's Red Wings and Piston games. Looks like some kind of experiment with OTA and streaming possibly leaving the cable channel behind in the near future. No word if there are plans to do the same with Tigers games. Do not know how or if CW pr...

Re: Broadcasting burnout
I think getting rid of ridiculous non-competes and liquidated damage clauses for reporters and producers would go far. Even if the FTC forbids these in April it will be challenged in the courts by the companies that hate free enterprise when it comes to the labor market.

Re: CBS Detroit Job Cuts
I would have thought CBS would have given 62 all of 2024 to make or break before making cutbacks, anyway corporate mandated layoffs are always expedite and are never well thought out. Just cut the easiest people to cut and deal with the fall out later.
