It's taped in early afternoon to minimize the risk due to rain and severe weather.

So, they poached someone from channel 7. I knew I recognized that name. The plot thickens. :)
Gino hasn't worked for channel 7 in 4 years. Nice guy, hope he does well but poached isn't the word I would use.

I must be the only one here on Buzzboard that thinks The New 62 will leapfrog Fox2 in amount of viewers two days after they debut. And leapfrog Broadcast House within six months.

Re: Hmmm,is the news drought at CBS62 about to come to an end?

It's inevitable that CBS will lose money for a while as they try and establish some market share but losing out on the political revenue in 2022 and having to wait until 2024 for the political cash grab is a tough situation to be in. Political ads are what's keeping the local stations profitable now.

Re: Hmmm,is the news drought at CBS62 about to come to an end?

Local News gives you an audience that is more likely to vote and flexible inventory. During political season the news stations will clear as much as 4 minutes an hour in extra sales inventory from news content. Individual candidates get charged the lowest rate but PACs and ballot referendum ads get ...

Re: Hmmm,is the news drought at CBS62 about to come to an end?

Late September is a good guess. Also gives time to work out kinks before November sweeps. Detroit has been a metered market for 25 years, data is collected 48 weeks a year and advertising rates are set by that. The old sweeps period are for bragging rights in the paper. They would do well to put a ...

Re: Weather Woman Fired For Racial Reference?

She was the third element in a tease and she ad-libbed a tie-in between the first 2 stories teased, one involved a black woman looking for a date for Valentines day and a new gorilla at a zoo. Goofy and dumb but not intentionally racist, I felt really bad for her at the time but she did land on her ...

Poor Michelle Budenstein, she was trying to be clever on the fly and said something stupid. I was friends with her in college.

To make good spots that didn't run properly or clear extra inventory for political advertising.

Re: Meteorologist Andrew Humphrey leaving WDIV after 20 years

The company has nothing to waive as you can't enforce a stipulation within the contract when the contract has been terminated. The station can always buy that privilege, by continuing to pay the terms of the contract or entering into a new contract that keeps the talent off the air. As I said in an...

Re: Meteorologist Andrew Humphrey leaving WDIV after 20 years

When contracts are not renewed and the talent is then terminated for cost reasons, usually the non-compete cause is waved by the company. If you are laying off people to save money, getting sued and going to court doesn't make a lot of sense.

Word has it that Fox 2 is suing CBS for poaching a producer with a non-compete clause in the contract. Would love for a judge to rule on that.
