Re: That's Just A Rumor...
Pluto TV is one of my favorites. Pluto TV is absolutely amazing for being free. It's the kind of thing that everyone needs to know about. I have YouTube TV, which is one of those kinda fake OTT services that's essentially just a new cable company. I mean, it costs $65/month now. (Trust me, a lot of ...

Re: ALT 98.7 reaches new low in June...1.6 Share
Ooh, good point. Cristina would fit in well on 107one. I'll bet that crowd would love the Time Warp, even. I mean, they play the syndicated New Wave Nation on Sat nights; why not replace that with something live and local? 107one is still, IMO, the best radio station in the area by a mile. There ...

Re: ALT 98.7 reaches new low in June...1.6 Share
I miss both the Retro Lunch and Time Warp. They played deep cuts quite a bit, some music you don't typically hear on radio. Cristina, who used to host Time Warp every Sunday morning on 89X, still does her show every week and posts it on her website, www.cristinarocks.com. A 2-hour show that goes up ...

Re: 89X Memories
I probably listened to 89X almost exclusively for about a decade, and they were really important to me in figuring out my taste in music. I loved the station and the jocks. I thought it was such a cool station. Remember Vince Cannova? He was so out there... bit of a space cadet, possibly a stoner ...

Re: RIP 89X
I'll be honest and say that I really don't think the Alt 98.7 playlist is bad. Sorry. 😂 I mean, okay, a few things are bad. I'll agree on that Dance Monkey song being... a lot. It's pretty weird. Sounds more pop than alternative to me. See, I'm actually viewing some of the new music cuts as being go ...

Re: 98.7 Alternative!
Yeah, great point. You're going to leave the all-Christmas format, which gets H*** ratings in Detroit, to WNIC alone? A switch from The Breeze to all-Xmas is a natural fit. Seems like it could've gotten them some good ratings. Entercom really is delusional to make a quick switch to alternative. They ...

Re: 98.7 Alternative!
I am honestly amazed that 98.7 pulled this stunt to try to grab some of the 89X listeners. It absolutely won’t work, and I’m sure the format is garbage. But still, in the current landscape of terrestrial radio with tumbleweeds blowing around everywhere, IMO it's a minor miracle that a corporate pla ...

Re: RIP 89X
This is officially the weirdest day in Detroit radio that I can personally remember. When was the last time there were THREE format flips simultaneously?! Just crazy.
Country? COUNTRY? FFS. Goodbye, 88.7. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Re: RIP 89X
I’m honestly just impressed that they managed to actually program a final song instead of just abruptly turning off the automation at noon.

Re: RIP 89X
THEY DID IT! 89X did a final song!!!
It is: “Stop” by Jane’s Addiction, their first song ever.
I LOVE that choice. Always cool to make the first and last the same.

Re: RIP 89X
Looks like MW’s prediction is good so far. Virgin Radio (CHR) on 93.9. Will it also be classic hits on 88.7?

Re: RIP 89X
Do you think there will be a designated “final song” for the 89X format? Does anyone still bother to even think of that, or is corporate too busy running the thing on automation until it’s gone? If there is a final song, predictions? “Closing Time” by Semisonic is a little too obvious and on-the-nose ...

Re: You Never Heard Of A Talking House?
That is just amazing. Would be great to find this audio clip. Haha! And actually, no, I haven't heard of a Talking House. Didn't know realtors used local radio broadcasts like that.
As for a numbers station... I kinda doubt it's THAT clandestine.

Pirate radio station in Seattle?
I know absolutely nothing about this, or about radio in the Seattle area for that matter, but I ran across this guy talking about this fascinating radio mystery in the Seattle area and figured you guys would like it. This was originally all a long series of individual tweets, but I used a service ...

Re: Transitioning to new graphics for WXYZ
I do like elements of this a lot. But it's the simpler elements. The basic, white 7 logo that appears between cuts of what's coming up on the newscast, etc. The little bubbles that seem like text messages are a bit overdone.
