Re: Seriously WTF?

In terms of rock radio on the FM dial, I'm partial to Rock 105/95.5 in Traverse City, although I will say Z93 is quite good, too. Yes these stations have a great playlist over the last couple of years, along with Z93. Then if you want decent alternative (real alternative) there's 105.5 port huron :)

Re: Seriously WTF?

^^^and for this reason, I miss 97.1 WKRK.... WKRK tanked due to too much micromanagement from the corporate suits in New York. It never had time to evolve, and the execs would not stop meddling. They were in it deep enough to the point where they were telling the PD which songs/bands he couldn't pl...

Re: Seriously WTF?

I do indeed remember hearing R.E.M. on the Album Rock stations in West Michigan back in the day. Multiple singles, in fact. I get that WRIF doesn't want to alienate older listeners, but the two playlists overlap much too far.... move anything from 1995 and earlier to WCSX, and stick to 1995 and lat...

Re: Seriously WTF?

For years WRIF and WCSX have been sorely mismanaged from a programming point of view in my opinion. I get that WRIF doesn't want to alienate older listeners, but the two playlists overlap much too far.... move anything from 1995 and earlier to WCSX, and stick to 1995 and later on WRIF....seems simple?

Re: Radio: West Side vs. East Side

I too, grew up in the west burbs, where lansing, ann arbor, toledo, and flint markets were side by side with detroit. I now live in RF hell (oakland county), and even visiting the old stomping grounds of washtenaw county nowadays shows how much the radio landscape has changed (for the worse in my op...

Re: If Southfield Public School isn't going to operate 88.3 WSHJ properly...

I'd love to hear WSHJ become something worth listening to.

For years and years that station has underperformed, both entertainment-wise and technically.

I posted a video on here some time ago when WSHJ was splattering .6mhz up and down the band, even from 5 miles out!

Re: What will happen to 107.5 WGPR come January 1, 2020??

Sure would be great to have a real Active rock / Alternative station here in detroit.... 89X is more or less pop these days, and the riff can't ever decide if it's WCSX or WRIF.... 106.7 is even worse. I spend my time on FM (rarely anymore) listening usually to CIDR and WQKL. Occasionally WRIF and W...

Re: Which Metro Detroit cities are declining and which are improving?

I live in Pontiac, and I must say that while the city doesn't *look* much better to outsiders, there have been improvements. I've been near pontiac general hospital for four years now - have never had a problem. that being said: 1. there are a few parts of town that I still wouldn't recommend visiti...

Re: Detroit rapper and comedian tries to cash in on UAW strike

There are now laws in place to cover exactly what the UAW was created to "fight for".

The UAW is a drain on society.

Re: Straight Talk vs. Verizon

straight talk and other mvnos leverage the big four networks, and also limit top speeds. you can buy several different straight talk sim cards, they correspond with which networks you'll be using: att/tmo or vz/sprint/us cellular most MVNO on VZ's network are really a good value if you can handle be...
