Re: 1991 Z-rock Airchecks?

I loved Z-rock as a kid (where I Could hear it). When K-rock was on 97.1, it kind of reminded me of a "Fresher" Z-rock (and I loved it)

Re: People in Washtenaw County love WUOM

WUOM is definitely a blowtorch. It covers a significant chunk of the lower peninsula from Dexter. The *only* allure behind W4 as a non-country listener is that they do provide a lot of local news and weather, even for communities out in Lenawee county - The station is much more focused on the 'in be...

They also have a hell of a coverage area.

WBMI 105.5

Just have to give kudos to the station's owners - I've been north several times recently, and everytime I end up tuning in and listening for a while. While classic country is not my favorite genre, I do get in the mood for it now and then - and when I do I can only hope i'm within range of this stat...

Re: WHNE and Mohu Leaf

I noticed last night that my buddy in west bloomfield is now receiving WHNE all of a sudden. Still no sign of it here in Pontiac, haven't seen it in the 5 years i've been living here.

same result here - seeing images centered at about 101.67 and 102.12 at about half strength of the actual signal.

Re: WRIF

We've now reached a Sophie's Choice of sorts. As I type this, WRIF is playing Gorillaz "Feel Good Inc", a song I've NEVER EVER heard on Riff before. I've also heard stuff like Blink-182, who I only remember playing "Adam's Song" in early 2000. I'll admit, I'm liking the more "alternative" songs Rif...

Re: RIP 89X

How about a real rock station on one of those freqs?

89x dug their own grave when they stopped working as hard as they did in 1993 to build out quality playlists.

Personally I like the river most of the time but I've noticed some tweaks lately that prompted me to listen less.

Re: If You Want It, Here It Is, Come And Get It!

I'd really love to have this. Unfortunately, I'd have it lit up in Pontiac and likely would be in prison a short time after :)

Re: Strangest Radio Signals

In reading through the comments, I stumbled upon this: http://websdr.ewi.utwente.nl:8901/ I wasn't aware that such an SDR existed. I knew there were online tuners but this one allows multiple users at once to tune to different stations. There are online tuners everywhere :) I host one on GlobalTune...

Re: RePack Phase 8 started

"Rabbit ears" are specifically designed for VHF reception, not UHF. The "center grid" you see on most "rabbit ears" is what picks up UHF. VHF is much easier to receive despite noise levels, especially at a distance. From Pontiac I can get anything VHF in the area on nothing more than a piece of spea...

Re: Radio DX from my work's private plane

I DX on airplanes all the time - lots of fun, especially if you have inflight wifi and can lookup IDs while listening :) I find that once you get to cruise altitude (above 32K) you have a minimum of about 200 miles worth of range (and up to about 600). You can fly directly over a 50kw station and no...

Re: Scanners

I run two SDR dongles in tandem with unitrunker and DSD+ for ultra cheap, reliable P25 phase 1 and 2 decoding. You can even monitor multiple control channels (systems) at once and give priority to talkgroups from a global (multi-system) standpoint.

I have heard previous iterations of this station in the past, but have never really tried for it since moving to pontiac. Will have to swing the antenna around today and see if I can find it.

Re: Seriously WTF?

It seems that "Paint it Black" (released in 1966!) by the Rolling Stones is now in heavy rotation on WLLZ. :lol Even with just my very casual listening and channel surfing I swear they must play it at least once a day. "New generation" my ass. WRIF plays it once in a while! Sorry, not a fit for an ...
