Re: CKWW
With as well heard as ckww is across metro Detroit during all hours, I have a hard time believing it's only running 500w. I don't listen regularly, but anytime I have it seems so strong that there'd have to be some serious dx going on to completely wipe it out. Not impossible, just impressive.

Re: The atrocity known as AM HD radio
It is my opinon that the biggest problem with HD radio quality is not even the crappy bandwidth used, giving the tinny "digital" sound that xm and sirius does..... The biggest problem in my opinion is that it seems to me like the source audio into the HD exciter is almost ALWAYS after an analog comp...

Re: Interference @ 103.1 MHz in northern Oakland County
Just noticed w231cv 94.1 is live from the north edge of Pontiac now, with a Holly COL. absolutely no sign of WWDK on the car stereo anymore in Pontiac. Same terrible programming and amateurish audio chain.

Re: WHLX 1590 and 92.7
I was just under the assumption that WHLS/WHLX were under the same ownership. I wasn't sure if 105.5 was technically a translator for HLS or HLX.

I heard what sounds to me like a beacon of some kind the other day. It was strongest near Lone Pine and Middlebelt, and was only on for the day (but on all day long)
Any ideas what this could be?

Re: Metro Detroit CB
Have been hearing various E-skip (or perhaps F2?) just about every morning for the last week now. Texas and Oklahoma seem most common, but have heard TN and FL as well. These guys don't really uh.....formally identify or locate. I've keyed in a few times but don't think anyone has heard me (or is si...

Re: "Detroit's Wheels" on WDTW-HD3
It just seems odd to me that this station can't lock in my radio, because my car typically has excellent reception and HD locking ability. I'd like to listen to it more. Streaming the iHeart app isn't a great option for me since I don't have a high data plan to accommodate LTE streaming every day. ...

Re: Part 15 radio
The thought of implementing a part 15 'network' has always been a neat idea to me. Single Frequency, even cooler.

Re: Metro Detroit CB
The last time I tried, I only heard skip from stations using linears and reverb. If the propagation was line of sight, I heard very little. Between cell phones and internet becoming universal, the reasons for widespread use have disappeared. I wonder how much time and money the FCC spends on CB enf...

Re: Metro Detroit CB
I've found a few regular knuckleheads on throughout oakland county, and always truck traffic along the interstates. I'm usually on in the mornings and afternoons during my commute between pontiac and farmington hills. There's some guy up near 17 and John R - I hear him almost every morning. Not sure...

Re: Rimshots
I am able to get WKQZ and WCEN here in Grayling. I have actually got WKQZ as far as Cadillac! That is in-part due to WKQZ's luxury of being the only station in the entire state, both Upper and Lower Peninsula, broadcasting on the 93.3 frequency. Speaking of which, how did they get so lucky? That's ...
