Re: Vicious Dog

Our dog was sort of like that too. When I was walking her, and she saw something different than is usually was, she would bark at it. A gate that was open, a traffic cone on the sidewalk etc. Once I was walking her in an area we didn't normally walk. We went by a motel that has a life size concrete ...

Fair enough. Did the three get booted from the working class?

Re: Decide This One

They sound like typical union employees. Typical Union employees don't get into trouble. they just go to work every day and do their jobs. It's members like these who kept me busy. We always say 5% of your people give you 90% of your problems.. My only brother worked HR in a big non-Union plant. He...

Re: Decide This One

They were all offered reassignment. In fact, they were given several assignments from which to choose. None of them were as cushy or paid as well as the ones they had just lost. They all declined what was offered. Instead, they went to the Ontario Labour Board and filed a complaint against their Uni...

Re: Decide This One

The reason the client wanted to be rid of these three is irrelevant to the case but probably the most interesting part of the story. They worked the overnight shift, when the plant was empty. Their duties were as watch persons. There were three designated sectors in the building, one each of the thr...

Re: Decide This One

I had to break the news to the three that they didn't have a grievance. The employer had not violated our collective agreement. The employer's offer to reassign them was still open. I strongly advised them to accept it.

Re: Decide This One

So, as stated in your opening, the company could NOT request removal for ANY reason? OK. For any legitimate reason The legitimacy of the reason is determined by the client. They don't want to get into a pissing contest over the reason. Our collective agreement is with the Security Company, not the ...

Were they of a somewhat darker skin pigmentation than the average Ontarian?

No. And the client could not legally request their removal for reasons that violated their Human Rights

Re: How has your life changed?

You know how it is when you move to a new city or start a new job, it takes a while for your dreams to catch up. It may be months until your dreams are set in that new locale. Now, more than a year into the pandemic, it has never been the subject of, or even an element in my dreams. I've never dream...

None of those products are things that I buy, so I wouldn't notice.

One thing that is becoming scarce is pay phones.
