Re: WCBS to go all sports. WWJ next?
Audacy is headquartered in Philadelphia, so if any station could be considered a "flagahip," it would be KYW. Of course, a "flagship" is defined as a station that originates shows to a network and Audacy does not operate a network. WCBS has been a very weak performer in recent years, especially comp...

Face it, Accuweather reports (and traffic reports) are often pre-recorded. But this is the 21st Century. Your smartphone will alert you to weather watches and warnings. Broadcast radio is obsolete.

Re: Ave Maria radio buying Lansing area AM
Somehow I don't see an evangelical religious broadcaster selling out to a Catholic religious broadcaster. So, what commercial AM stations are chronically loosing money? WXLA maybe?

Wixie: The station of The Lone Ranger, Challenge of the Yukon, The Green Hornet, Mickey Schorr, Fred Wolf, Lou Gordon, Mike Wallace, Douglas Edwards, Paul Winter..... And it's come to this? Just shut down the whole AM band. It's dead.

Re: Michigan Radio drops "Radio" from its name
Basically, public radio (and TV) don't need government subsidies. Time was they did but they don't now. They get money from listeners and they get even more money from corporate underwriters. And they get money from what for all practical purposes are infomercials. In most markets, they have fancy ...

Re: Michigan Pubic Rant
Just one more reason to hate the U of M. Other states have statewide public radio networks (Minnesota Public Radio, Wisconsin Public Radio, New Hampshire Public Radio, Vermont Public Radio, Maine Public Radio.....) but Mchigan does not. WUOM and its repeaters do not constitute a "network," let alone...

Re: WDET celebrates 75 years of Public Radio
WXYZ-FM (now WRIF 101.1) and WXYZ-TV had their transmitters in the Maccabees Building even after 1270 moved to Southfield (the current location of Broadcast House). 75 years is the amount of time Wayne State has held the license for the station. There was no "public radio" prior to May 01, 1971 when...

Re: Howard Stern on WWWW-FM/Detroit the morning after John Lennon was killed: 12/9/80
Sounds like semi-monotone rambling to me. Or mumbling like Don Imus. I never have figured out why Howard Stern is supposed to be so great. Michigan has seen much better personalities pass through. Most of the others who "passed through" did not get the audiences and the listener loyalty he did. The...

Public radio stations are supposed to be non profits - not money-grubbing, avaricious B-school types.

Re: Lansing is losing Antenna TV and Circle
Try Frndly TV. They stream Antenna TV and all the other HD sub-channel networks. It's cheap and you get the full feed - no preempting shows to run infomercials.

Re: LOL at WWJ
Which traffic service provides traffic reports to 'J? Reason I ask, is sometimes - even often - these "traffic centers" are not even in the city on which they report and their "traffic reporters" are not from or familiar with the city. Add to that, many times they are doing reports not just for diff...

Re: WCFL “The Big 10” Chicago
I loved 'CFL during the Ken Draper years. Chickenman. The Johnny Mann jingle package. The line-up included Wixie alum Joel Sebastian. Funny thing, WCAR 1130 (now WDFN) hired Draper and much of the 'CFL staff a couple of years later and the attempt to recreate the 'CFL magic bombed.

Re: Michigan Radio drops "Radio" from its name
I don't like this move. Michigan Public Media would've been a much better name than "Michigan Public." There was nothing wrong with the Michigan Radio name, either. They should've left it alone. https://radioinsight.com/headlines/263363/michigan-radio-rebrands-as-michigan-public/ There was a lot wr...

When you dump "Xfinity" (Comcast) for You Tube TV (Google), who provides your Internet connection? Could it be.......Comcast, who is still getting your money?
